I might be a grandmother. But I’m not some sweet, harmless old lady who people can push around.
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince.
They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by.
I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.
Now he wants his daughters back.
Over my dead body.
I finally have a family of my own. And nobody is going to take it away from me.

Got as a freebie. Dragged on with not much happening
A bit silly and far-fetched. The main character's in her sixties and it made me smile to hear how she was described as if she were 90

A good read
An interesting storyline and I was keen to know what happened next but I found 2 things really disappointing: the grandmother character was 65 yet from the description and her attitude and mannerisms appeared to be over 80; the father’s foul language was unnecessary.

Ok for a freebie.
I would have been disappointed if I had paid for this audible. It filled a gap between my credit and the end of my previous listen.
Most of the free library are good but this was meh. Poor characters, daft plot, changeable narration.

Twists and turns all the way
Loved the character building, great plot and constant twists. Binge listened as whole tale gripped from first chapter to last

Creepy and horrifying; society at the margins
Not one likeable character yet the reader is drawn in but each succeeding horror. Duplicity, lies, murder. Keep your ears open. The end has a lovely little twist that I never saw coming.

Really good
Great listen. Brilliant voiceovers too! Good twist in there too! Would recommend. Why does this have to be 15words minimums? I’ve ran out of things to say! It’s a good story!

Full of twists and turns
I really enjoyed this audio book. It held my attention all the way through as the story cleverly unfolded and took the listener in different and unexpected directions.
