About this listen
She's a friendly voice on the phone. But can you trust her?
The people who call End of the Line need hope. They need reassurance that life is worth living. But some are unlucky enough to get through to Laura. Laura doesn’t want them to hope. She wants them to die.
Laura hasn’t had it easy: she's survived sickness and a difficult marriage only to find herself heading for forty, unsettled and angry. She doesn't love talking to people worse off than she is. She craves it.
But now someone’s on to her - Ryan, whose world falls apart when his pregnant wife ends her life, hand in hand with a stranger. Who was this man, and why did they choose to die together?
The sinister truth is within Ryan's grasp, but he has no idea of the desperate lengths Laura will go to...
Because the best thing about being a Good Samaritan is that you can get away with murder.

A very uncomfortable read/listen
Listening to someone subtly encouraging suicide to a vulnerable person is never going to be an easy read.
The retaliation of the grieving husband was understandable to a degree but further into the story it beggered belief why he didn't just go to the police. It got so uncomfortable at one point I nearly stopped listening to the book.
There was enough suspense to keep me interested with a twist that was a little predictable as the story neared to a close.
I am still undecided whether the narrators were suited to the roles or if it was the writing that made some sections a little stiff.
I much preferred John Marrs other books "The One" and "The Passengers".

Brilliant and dark!
Terrifying story, couldn't believe how evil Laura was and what lengths she would go to to get her own way. A true sociopath.

Good narrative
I couldn't put this down. Although a bit far fetched I was gripped and drawn in. I was just so disappointed with the ending and felt a bit cheated. Not put me off john marrs though as really enjoy his wacky dark stories. Just shame about the ending for this one.

Slow start but well worth it
This story is excellent, at the very beginning I didn't think I would like it, seemed a bit mediocre, but I think that is just to lull you into a false sense of what the story is. I couldn't fault it once the plot began to develop, such a departure from usual psychological thrillers and all the better for it.

Deadly help
I enjoyed this well written thriller.
I will look for more from this author, this being my first.
Very good narration, Laura was expertly typecast . I wasn’t equally thrilled with the reader of Ryan/Steven he wasn’t convincing and didn’t feel as invested in the character.
But the authors writing was good and a good story/thriller.

This book kept on giving!
Every time I thought the story was about to end, there was another twist and off we galloped again! Very entertaining. The narrator who read Ryan’s part was particularly good. I felt he was telling me HIS story rather than reading.
