Summary

For eight strangers in a Los Angeles hostel, even the other side of the world isn’t far enough. The craving for a new identity and the desire to start again is something they have in common. But they discover that it doesn't matter where you are or who you are - if you can't lay the past to rest, fate and coincidence have a way of catching up with you.

Amazing storytelling

Just love all John Marrs’ books, each one so different. Wasn’t sure if I could cope with all the different characters in this one, however the constantly developing plot all fell into place eventually with many twists along the way. Well done Mr Marrs, can’t wait for the next book being released in September

A solid Marrs story

Enjoyed this book. Not my favourite of Mr Marrs’s books but a good read nonetheless. A few twists which I didn’t see coming but more predictable than some of his others which I found a little more gripping. The narration by Peter Noble was outstanding and I felt it enhanced the telling of this story. A very talented man. I good book which I would be happy to recommend.

Good story but annoying narration

I’ve loved every one of the previous John Marrs titles I’ve purchased, but this was the first one I didn’t finish.
The storyline was interesting and the characters somewhat relatable, however the terrible American accents were so annoying I just couldn’t finish the book.

Lots happening

I really enjoyed this audiobook. Lots of twists in all of the stories. So much going on with each character. Another great book by John Marrs!

Not the best story, didn’t really enjoy

Did not get into characters, Nothing remarkable in the book, very average story. All a bit unbelievable and not engaging. Only just managed to finish, nearly gave up several times. Did end up liking a few characters in the end but overall meh!

A Great Story

Really good narrator. Different voices for different characters done well.
I love flow of this story. Had listened to it about a year ago, but couldn't remember what was going to happen, thanks to the unexpected twists.

Slow start….

Slow to start, almost gave up but before long realised I was half way through and keen to find out about everybody…. A good listen in the end!

A hidden gem 💎

4.5⭐️ this book surprised me in the best way. I went into it not really knowing what to expect but it was a twisty tail with 8 POVs and lots of secretes. 8 charters are in a hostel in LA all at the same time everyone has their skeletons and everyone is running away from someone or something. It was a great fast paced read I didn’t know what to expect and how it was going to turn out. I loved the multi character and short chapters. It took a little bit to figure out who was who at first but once I had familiarised myself with their background I was hooked. There were a lot of twists and some were less believable than others but it was a fun read overall.
