Summary

A domineering coworker, a flirtatious neighbor, and a dead body make for many questions and awkward situations.

As an HR specialist and trauma counselor, Stacie Maroni is used to dealing with difficult situations. When her night out is derailed by the discovery of a body outside a local watering hole, she’s glad she’s not involved. But when the police investigate and close friends are cast as potential suspects, Stacie will do whatever it takes to identify the true culprit, even if it creates waves with the men in her life, her father included. The suspect list is slim, and she’s grasping at straws.

Great cozy mystery

I really like these mysteries. Christa Nardi writes well crafted, entertaining cozy mysteries and this is no exception. The murder of a co-worker, an troublesome efficiency expert and a family wedding are all involved in the latest. Naomi Rose-Mock is an excellent easy to listen to narrator. I recommend this series and look forward to the next release

Deceptively good

I enjoyed this book. Each book in this series is a standalone mystery so you don't need to have read or listened to the other books before getting stuck into this one but as there is a lot of recurring characters I do think it helps. This is book three in the series and it is my favourite so far. This is mainly because of the mystery in this one. I liked how the victim had two sides her and nobody was certain which one was the intended target, add in people who aren't who they claim to be and you have a good mystery on your hands. With so many mysteries set in or around the catering of food, being set in an office was a pleasant change and worked well for this mystery and serious situation. The up coming wedding added drama and the great friendship between the the characters make it an all round fun listen.
With her dad's wedding fast approaching Stacie thought the hardest decision would be whether to invite her boy friend to met the family or not. That was until on the way for a night out, a body is discovered in an alleyway and there plans change. It is only after watching the news that she finds out both her best friends could have had a motive to kill her. She was the reason behind one of them walking out on her boy friend and the other one she was making her work life a living hell. Now Stacie has to clear her friends names before they are arrested. Which won't be easy as the victim was keeping secrets and to find the killer Stacie will have to uncover them.
I liked the narrator. I have heard her read a number of stories and she is quite good with a very distinct voice.

Really enjoyable - narration was brilliant

I just devoured this in one day - it was just so nice and relaxing and engaging. I just wanted to know what happened in the end. The villain was brilliant, so well drawn and brilliant. There was a nice twist just towards the end. The ending just set it up brilliantly for the next instalment in this series (Oh I do hope there is one).

I received a free copy from the author but this did not influence my review.
