Summary
You tried to save a life. Now you're fighting to save your own.
It should have been an idyllic day for the Turner family - until a dying man, beaten beyond all recognition, arrives at their home, uttering the words 'help me'.
Rob and Wendy Turner and their children try to explain away the horrific scene as being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but in the days that follow, their lives are threatened in ways they could never imagine.
The family is unaware that they are being watched by someone with their own terrifying agenda, who will stop at nothing to fulfil their own twisted desires. But when hidden secrets come rushing to the surface, it's clear not everything is as it seems in this happy family. Are the Turners victims of circumstance - or does the key to their fate lie closer to home?
Forced to fight for everything they hold dear, can they save themselves before time runs out - or will their act of compassion see them paying the ultimate price?
A heart-stopping, shocking and tense thriller that will keep you guessing until the very last minute.

Real life danger, danger in real life.
I like Tom Bale because he uses everyday people and throws them into extradinary dangerous, but believable situations. Scary stuff and good story that almost worked. Well read with some good voices by John Telfet. Enjoyable.

It was ok, but not stunning
Where does All Fall Down rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It was a bit convoluted an unbelievable. Usual stupid people doing stupid things they grow to regret later on in the story.

Sins of the Fathers
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
To modify a well worn cliche to fit, it's a good listen! As evidence, I can only say that I listened to the book over a period of two weeks, every time I went to the gym to go through my routine. I got to the stage where I was actually looking forward to inflicting the torture on my body so that I could move on with the story line and I have to say that the time exercising, when I normally count the minutes to exhaustion, passed in a flash. Apart from the aspect which I deal with below, the damage that parents can wreak on their children and the soul searching that the older generation do to compensate or not, comes through loud and clear and is well done.
What other book might you compare All Fall Down to, and why?
It is difficult and probably unfair to compare one book with another directly. I read and listen to many novels in the crime and thriller genre, both for enjoyment and training, and I consider that each should be judged on its merits. I would stratify it as in the top half of my contemporary universe of novels on the same shelf as Greg Iles and P J Tracy
Have you listened to any of John Telfer’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No. This is the first one I have heard. I thought it was particularly well read and accented as he moved through the character changes. I would not like my overall impression of a first class narrator to be sullied by the fact that I found that some of the female characterisations grated on me.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Without giving the game away, a large part of the book is devoted to the relationship and development of the story between captors and captives. There were two aspects which moved me in a negative sense. I could not really get my head around the cigarette baron's reasoning for chasing after his prey so avidly, nor the Manson morality to explain that what the group was doing could in some way be preparation for a financial armageddon. I think I would have tried to develop the plot to achieve the same ends with slightly more credibility. On the positive side, I particularly enjoyed and felt the author had a real empathy for the relationship between Georgia and her school friends, the bitchiness and the psychological bullying that must go on every day in the real world.
Any additional comments?
It is easy to sound over critical and I don't mean to. I enjoyed the book; I thought the characters were well drawn, their backgrounds and moods intelligently presented and I can only thank Tom Bale for his ability to make the pain of the press-ups go away. Thank you, Tom.

exciting thriller
at each moment - everything may change - an accident or something waiting under the surface of our existence - there are many realities in life as part of our present and future - destiny or luck or a dream within a dream? enjoy this trip even the intruder plot is not really new - last chapters too much - better an end with the showdown

I'm bored now so it's off to buy a replacement.
This book started well and held my attention for the first 40 chapters. Written and paid by the word only?
I can't recommend this book but would try another from this author.
