Beckett Langfield is grumpy, rich and hates kids. I’m an overworked, overstressed, and overweight single mom. The only reason we’re getting married is because he needs to fix a PR disaster and I am available. As in sitting next to him, in a bar, when he has this brilliant idea. Considering I just got divorced, I’m not looking to do that again. But Beckett makes me an offer that I literally can’t refuse, so I don’t.

All I want is one night. One night away from the falling down brownstone filled with my three best friends, a broody billionaire, and our seven children. Oh, and you can’t forget those adorable raccoons. But the universe apparently has other ideas because I get drunk and sleep with the baseball player. Now two little lines turn my escape into a completely new adventure. But we’re just going to co-parent not get into anything serious.

Things that stress out this widowed single mom: high fructose corn syrup, intrusive thoughts about my son getting swept up by a tornado, and the sexiest hockey player to grace this planet. Oh, and the fact that I’m also said hockey player’s physical therapist. But we’ll lock that tidbit away in the same nightstand as my battery-operated toys.

I’m the last single mom standing. We had a plan. Move into my great aunt’s old house and raise our kids together. Just four best friends, doing their best to stay afloat. But then three of them had to go and fall in love. Now, my crumbling brownstone is filled with loving couples, leaving me in the cold.
