Summary
To escape his monotonous life of humdrum tedium, Godfrey Plunkett frequently escapes into the world of his fertile imagination. There, away from all criticism and the disparaging looks from his fellow human beings, he can be free to live his dreams. He can be a hero, a celebrity, a movie star - anything he wants.
And, somehow, these inner thoughts help him to maintain his optimism that something fantastic is just around the corner, and is about to happen for him, for real - at any moment.
But, out there in the harsh, real world, will anything fulfilling or exciting ever happen for this poor, misunderstood individual? Or is he destined only to experience the excitement of life in the privacy of his own thoughts?
And, more importantly, what happens when the boundary between his make-believe world and reality starts to blur?

A really funny story.
If you could sum up The Virtual Lives of Godfrey Plunkett in three words, what would they be?
A funny man.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Godfrey, because he doesn't know how funny he is.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Trueman’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I listened to 'The Cryptic Lines'. His voice in that one was scary.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It was sad and also funny when Godfrey dressed in unattractive clothes to go to the speed dating, but thinks he looks cool.
Any additional comments?
I didn't understand some of the words, but it was still really funny. Mum thought the reader's voice sounded like newsreader but I thought it was good. I liked the voice he did for Edna. I preferred listening to it rather than reading it.

Very Amusing listen.
I really enjoyed this satirrical tale. The main characters method of escapism from the hum drum world of teaching guitar to uninterested pupils is to drift off into a world full of fantasies that make him a worshipful hero. After a period of disinterest in listening to books this one has got me back in to it. Excellent story and well narrated by Jonathan Trueman. Highly recommended listen.
