Summary

It's been eighteen years since Josh Peters left dreary, dying Derton - the seaside town where he grew up - and headed for the bright lights of London. Now his dad is sick and his mum needs him, so he's back - though he's promised himself he won't be staying for long....

Then Josh finds himself unexpectedly detained in Derton, living in his cramped teenage bedroom, with simmering family tensions a little too close for comfort. Back amongst the old friends, old enemies, and old flames he left behind, he's worried that some things may never change.

But is Derton the same place he couldn't wait to escape from back then, full of failures and bitter memories, or has it been doing just fine without him? As Josh revisits his past, will he find that the only one who hasn't moved on is him?

His London life is calling him back - but sometimes there's no place like home....

Great story very well crafted and great delivery.

Took a little while to get into but was a delightful journey. Good mix of tears and laughter and handles a sensative topic well.

Loved it

I really enjoyed this book, it's not what I would usually choose but after reading other's reviews I decided to give it a go.
It is a poinient story, but with humour (I found myself laughing out loud on a number of occasions) and a deeper message about what home really is.
I would definitely recommend this to others.

The Amazing Matt Dunn it again!

Loved the story, very funny and heart warming. Witty, great play on words and genuinely natural.

Funny and emotional

I love this book, full of sentimentality and humor, it touches a nerve with my own background in places. Well worth a listen

This is one you don’t want to miss

Don’t think I have enjoyed an audible recording as much as ‘Home’ in some time. Very thought provoking, moving and funny; with much that each of us can take away and reflect on. The vocal actors are also excellent.

Urge you to give this a go.

Happy listening

Heart warming and funny

A great read, as usual from Matt Dunn. Brought back memories of losing my dad, but in a good way, written with warmth and with a hilarious honest inner voice.

Cancer jokes can get tedious.

The jokes anout cancer and dying were ok for the first chapter or so but after a while it just gets really tedious and boring. I know it is supposed to be a comedy but it became predictable. The narrator also spoke far to fast, absolutely no feeling emotion or dynamic to his voice.
