Summary

They vow to love, honor, cherish...

With her signature spirit, Faith Merridew has left everything she's ever known for the man she thought was the love of her life. Instead he leaves her name - and dreams - in the dust. That is, until she crosses paths with Nicholas Blacklock, a Waterloo veteran, who offers to save her reputation with a marriage of convenience.

...and then get to know one other.

A hardened soldier, Nick hides a deadly secret - and tries to keep Faith at arm's length. But even though Nick can command legions of men with a word, his orders go sweetly ignored by his convenient bride. And as they come to know one another more deeply, she brings out in him things he thought dead: gentleness, laughter...and love....

Contains mature themes.

The Best Yet!

This has an inauspicious start seemingly quite unnerving and unlikely, given what we (think we) know about Faith. But, of all of the stories and characters that we met this far, this tale has the most diverse range and flamboyant personalities of the series. It is the definitive ‘coming of age/fish out of water’ tale and extremely unique in the telling.

Heather Wilds is just superb in this! She has SO MANY accents to pull out of the bag! Many of them flowing one after the other in the give and take of conversations. She handles them with both skill and authenticity!

I don’t know how this can be topped! The family dynamics are expanding rapidly - from 5 tortured but resilient young orphans, to a dynasty of 14 and counting... a thoroughly enjoyable series.

Another outstanding virtue sisters story

This book had everything a reader of historical romance could want. I loved the characters and I’m almost wordless in praise of the narrator. Every accent is perfect and she manages to switch between them seamlessly. The humor is enhanced by her narration. Looking forward to the last in the series and can only hope for more in future.

The Perfect Stranger

I can't believe that Faith got herself in such a mess. Eloping with the violinist who was full of himself (from Perfect Waltz) getting attacked then saved by The Stranger. Marrying him after which he tries to send her back to England to his mother!! She's having none of it, pursues him.... Brilliant story.
