Now begins a deadly race as Captain Maddox, the crew, and Galyan are pitted against the masters of a centuries-old conspiracy. Human existence lies in the balance.

A Riveting Sci-Fi Epic with Engaging Characters

"The Lost Destroyer," the third volume in the Lost Starship series by Vaughn Heppner, propels readers deeper into the intricate and action-packed universe of Captain Maddox and the Starship Victory. With its blend of compelling characters and intricate science fiction elements, this installment continues to captivate readers.

The narrative picks up after the victory against the New Men, with Captain Maddox and his crew encountering a mysterious machine within an ion storm. Unbeknownst to them, a traitor lurks among them, threatening the hard-won progress made against the New Men. As the story unfolds, a web of conspiracy spanning centuries is revealed, thrusting Maddox, his crew, and allies into a race against time to save humanity.

One of the standout features of "The Lost Destroyer" is the author's ability to balance engaging characters with intricate science fiction concepts. While the plot is driven by epic battles and high-stakes situations, the characters' personalities and interactions add depth and relatability to the story. This balance creates an immersive experience that resonates with readers.

Moreover, the comparison to Star Wars is not unwarranted. Heppner's series presents a rich and expansive universe that lends itself well to both cinematic action and intricate storytelling. The thematic depth and interconnected conspiracies could easily translate into a visual medium, inviting readers to envision this universe on the big screen.

The narration also deserves recognition for bringing the characters to life. A skilled narrator enhances the overall experience by infusing the characters with distinct voices and personalities, making the audiobook version an engaging way to experience the story.

In conclusion, "The Lost Destroyer" is a must-read for fans of science fiction who appreciate a balance of engaging characters and intricate world-building. With its captivating narrative, epic battles, and a touch of mystery, this installment continues to deliver the excitement that fans have come to expect from the Lost Starship series. As the characters navigate treacherous waters and uncover layers of conspiracy, readers are treated to a thrilling adventure that leaves them eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Good bit of Sci fi pulp fiction!

Well read, and a compelling enough story. Lots of huge plot twists, which are fun and hopefully resolved in the next book!

Brilliant

It's so refreshing to have a SiFi story that has a little about characters which doesn't keep reminding you but lots and lots of science This series is as good as StarWars. and deserves a series of films. Come on Lucas get your mitts on this lot of books.
Many thanks to the Author and the narrator who brings the caricatures alive.

Good, if a bit out of nowhere

Would you try another book written by Vaughn Heppner or narrated by Mark Boyett?

Yes, I will certainly go through this series of books, though not a match for Bobverse or Expeditionary force series.

Would you recommend The Lost Destroyer to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, but not the best character depth.
With this book and the next one too, situations seem to have come out of nowhere.
A huge death ship not referenced to before and so quickly brought into play, I felt I had missed a book or a few chapters.

What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?

Well narrated, if a bit flat, must avoid doing Scottish accents, as it then becomes all rather corny.

Did The Lost Destroyer inspire you to do anything?

Continue with this series until more expeditionary books are written :-)
