Summary
At Omicron 9, Professor Ludendorff unearthed artifacts of the fabled Old Ones. During a meeting in a subterranean chamber, a portal appeared and aliens attacked, perhaps to kidnap the professor or grab the artifacts. Maddox’s new intuitive sense gave him just enough warning. He saved Ludendorff and rushed into the portal to forestall any more assaults - and thus began his lonely odyssey from one strange place to another.
Maddox eventually found a Builder potential unit, and they resolved to work together. But the unit betrayed him and then Victory, taking them to a system where Maddox had already been, one behind an impenetrable barrier and possessing an ancient power.
Maddox and Victory were outmatched and outgunned, facing aliens wielding super-science weapons. But if the captain ever wanted to see his wife and daughter again, and stop Lisa Meyers from her ongoing genocidal plans against humanity, he was going to have to solve an eon-old mystery and defeat every extraterrestrial bastard that got in his way.
The Lost Barrier is the 15th book in the Lost Starship Series.

The story has moved on - which is a good thing
Rather than repeats of previous stories rejigged. They are in new space with newer and bigger enemies. The story tends to concentrate more on Maddox and his enemies that can be a little hard to follow at times for bedtime reading. Some rubbishy formed god bothering going on too, but other than that a good long journey read.

As the crew of Starship Victory enters new space, I appreciate the shift in focus towards larger and more formidable adversaries. The storyline evolves, navigating the complexities of Maddox's battles and strategic maneuvering against these novel foes. While this approach adds depth to the narrative, I find myself occasionally grappling to keep pace with the intricate dynamics between Maddox and his adversaries, especially during late-night reading sessions.
One aspect that slightly detracted from my immersion was the introduction of certain spiritual elements, described as "god bothering." These segments felt somewhat incongruent with the predominantly science fiction backdrop, creating a minor distraction from the otherwise engaging storyline.
Despite this, "The Lost Barrier" remains a testament to the series' growth and evolution. Each installment builds upon the foundation of its predecessors, offering readers a tantalizing blend of action, strategy, and cosmic exploration. I've found that this series continues to captivate my imagination, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Maddox and Starwatch's journey.

just gets better and better
love this series, just keeps getting better, looking forward to the next installment of Maddox and Starwatch
