About this listen
A deadly virus. A brilliant, young researcher. And an infected survivor who threatens to steal her heart.
In a society ruled by sanctions and curfews, Dr. Meghan Forester emerges as the youngest and most promising scientist to join the fight against Makanza, the deadly virus that’s ravaged the world. Inside Compound 26, a giant government-controlled research facility, Meghan’s new job involves studying the Kazzies, the rare survivors who carry the virus and now exhibit supernatural powers. But as her work unfolds, Meghan’s horrified at the brutal and unethical practices the Kazzies are subjected to. And most surprisingly, she falls in love with one.
Faced with growing conflict over helping the Kazzies versus following the compound’s strict policies, Meghan must choose: Obey the government’s unethical practices, or risk everything to save the only man she’s ever loved.
If you love epic sagas, women who rise to the top to prove their place in this world, and love stories that will shatter your heart before putting it back together, The Complete Makanza Series is a must-listen! This complete audiobook collection includes all four audiobooks in the Makanza Series plus the prequel:
- Prequel - The Second Wave

Solid 4 1/2 stars ⭐️
I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.
The first 3 books are solid 5 star especially that prequel that omg hit me hard emotionally! With everything going on with covid right now it was almost too close to home and damn this was such incredible writing! I’m so pleased I continued on though, the world building and character development in this series is absolutely incredible. I felt the last two books weren’t my favourite so overall the series is 4 1/2 stars for me because it felt dragged on a little bit by that point but a lot of people disagree with that looking at other reviews 😂
Definitely worth listening to as overall an incredibly well written and thought provoking series ❤️

The Makanza Series is Amazing
I wasn’t sure whether to delve into this story due to the current Covid situation. However, this series gave me hope that we too have scientists working tirelessly to find a vaccine. The Makanza series was amazing. I couldn’t stop listening! The narrators were perfect!
The story builds and takes you on a journey with twists and turns... a beautiful story where being different is no barrier to love and a fulfilling life.
A must listen, you won’t be disappointed 🥰

Great series
this was a really good series considering it basically plays out how we feel during Covid. It brings relief thats there's hope and makes you a little less afraid to step outside and be brave. Great character builds and adventure.

ok I have thoughts
I got the first book for free and ended up really liking where the story was going, so I bought the whole series set but as the story went on, I kinda started not liking the main character and her POV. What started out as a quirky, happenstance nerdy young genius quickly became a bit obsessive stalker-ish Mary Sue with a golden who-ha and god-like complex "we found a vaccine in months, so why not a cure in weeks" or something like that. She also risks life and literally limb to be with a guy who barely has shown any romantic interest in her but becomes her obsession to risk everything. Yeah the romance doesn't work for me and if I have to read about his damn bright blue eyes again or how many times she dreamed about his freedom - I'm gonna scream. Uggggg

More than 5 stars... Fabtastic Series
Where do i begin...
Firstly i was lucky enough to receive the full series free for an honest review and honestly i was a little skeptical at first only because this isnt my usually read but with the world going crazy and the pandemic covid19 going on i thought lets give this book ago- And im so glad i did, it was an even bigger bonus i didnt have to wait for the next book...
The narrators Vanessa and Zachary were great- their voices for Meghan and Davin were perfect.
I cried when i read Davins book- so many emotions and feelings- jeezzz it broke me to feel what Davin went through and at only 18years old.
The whole series is full of twist and turns- i loved Meghans compassion and determination to do what is right for her friends. Meghan was shy, hurt and full of anxiety and it was great to see her progress throughout the Series into a strong independant woman. I loved seeing the build up and development of Meghan and Davin relationship (i was rooting so bad for them).
I loved all the characters especially Sharon and Sarah - God i felt for them...
I dont want to give too much away but what a Jem of a Series, i got very lucky and if you havent read this... tuck in now!

One of my favourite series.
This is one of my favourite series. I have read and listened to these books and they're brilliant. The second wave reduced me to tears. Zachary's narration was full of emotion and pain. Vanessa was Dr Meghan Foster. The second wave is Davin's story. He's visiting his Dad on the Soux Reservation with his brothers and sisters when the second wave of the Makanza virus hits(I know it's a bit scary with what's going on around the world at the moment with covid 19) Unable to return home to his mother Davin and his siblings are locked down. His father is a drunk and Davin feels he has to look after his family. Then his father becomes sick.
Compound 26 is told from Dr Meghan Fosters point of view. She's studied to become a researcher and is incredibly clever but also held back by her inability to be around people due to crippling anxiety. She starts work at compound 26 and meets Davin who had been held there since the second wave. Dr Foster is studying Davin to see if they can find a way to keep the virus stable to be able to test it to make a vaccine. The stories follow through the lives of Meghan, Davin, the researchers and the kazzies (a name for the infected) each Kazzie has changed after the Makanza virus some are strong, some changed colour skin to red or blue. But while Dr Foster is trying to find a cure others want the kazzies locked up for life and Dr Roberts is one who is happy to let them rot in the compound forever. It's a brilliant box set that you can get every single book for 1 credit. I won't tell you want happens in the other 3 books because too many spoilers but I highly recommend this series. So download it and you'll understand. I received a free copy of this audible box set from the author Krista Street but the opinions expressed are my own.

Good start, not so good ending
1º Book: This was a pleasant surprise. I didn't know I would like it so much since I'm having a hard time suspending my disbelief with anything virus related.
There is some things mentioned in the story that doesn't make a whole lot of sense about the virus and the spread, but it didn't bother me and I don't think it would bother much people. The main character is young, but her actions are mature (thank f*ck) enough and also believable. I really love her relationship with our H, it's start shake, but grows beautifully.
2º Book: I was surprised to see that I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first. This second book is really repetitive, nothing much happens and I think the page count could be cut by half. Seems like the story was full of fillers, just a piece was new stuff. Also, both MCs seems to have loose a few IQ points, specially the h, her actions were so juvenile, borderline annoying.
3º and 4º Book: I skimmed most of it. It was a repeat from the previous book and their relationship became too toxic. Their actions were juvenile, this was a full on YA novel.
I usually don't like female narrators, but Vanessa Moyen did a really good job! Her skills as an actor are amazing, she could do various voices without sounding forced, she did all the right pauses and could demonstrate the characters emotions.
