About this listen
Conventional weight-loss advice is failing millions of people. In this ground-breaking audiobook, the best-selling author of The Case Against Sugar exposes the bad science behind it and explains how a low-carb, high-fat diet could hold the key to losing weight - for good.
Eat less, lose more: a mantra few of us would disagree with and one we’ve heard countless times in official health advice. And yet doctors treating diabetes and obesity are experiencing extraordinary results among patients by taking a different approach - not by counting calories, but by eating a low-carb, high-fat diet.
Setting out the case for this ‘ketogenic’ approach to eating, Gary Taubes analyses the bad science behind the nutritional dogma that has brought us to a diabetes and obesity crisis. He shows how the fat shaming so prevalent in our society is a result of scientists mistakenly believing that we get fat because we consume more energy than we expend; that those who fatten easily have no willpower. In reality, he argues, we fatten due to our hormonal makeup and lowering insulin levels is the only way to lose weight without crippling hunger.
Full of eureka moments, this explosive audiobook offers hope for anyone wishing to prevent or reverse diabetes or obesity and makes the merits of a ketogenic lifestyle impossible to ignore.

Accompanying PDF (?)
So far so good but unfortunately no accompanying PDF as referenced in chapter 9 🤔 which is a smidge frustrating. But otherwise it’s great!

A self empowering nutrition guide
This is an important addition to the various books challenging conventional calories in / out weight loss dogma.
It is a journalist’s guide to the history of how nutritional standards have evolved over time.
I learnt about the importance of controlling insulin secretion and that we should learn what type of diet works for us individually by assessing how we feel right now rather than relying purely on government guidelines warning us of future consequences of eating too much fat.
It provides some references to learning more about Keto diets as it is not a book to explain the finer details of how to implement this diet.

Strong Case for Keto!
Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. Glad Gary had a professional narrator as many self-promoting authors like the sound of their own voices.
The case for Keto is rigorously set out in this book, looking at this way of eating from many angles.
Obviously, Gary has done considerable research for this and is supported by his many years he has spent in this domain already.
I nice easy listen, explaining the science in more easily understandable terms.
Highly recommend this book.
But AMAZON please put up the accompanying PDF that is referred to in the audio. But I'm not going to mark the audiobook down for this.

Another superb Taubes vintage.
Please read this. It's balanced, factual, and research based. He's not dogmatic and it's clear he cares.
Of course, you don't have to, keep eating Big Food poison and grow fat, keep fat, and stay fat!!!
Peace and love xx

Crucial information if you get fat easily
Succinctly explains the failure of governments and their nutritional 'scientists' along with the biochemistry behind the Keto diet. If like me you want to hear the finer detail behind the headlines then this, and the author's seminal work 'Good Calories, Bad Calories' ('The Diet Delusion' here in the UK) are must reads! I have lost 6 stone / 100lbs with Keto. This book backs up what I already know and helps get all my ducks in a row, This book is an honest and thorough piece of work.

Gary does it again
I have a background in nutrition, specialising in LCHF/keto and fasting, so keto is not new to me. What Gary does though is explain the subject matter in such a way that it will make sense to anyone, regardless of background.
I have taken numerous pointers to use with my clients. Thank you Gary!

Definitely listen if you're interested in Keto
very informative with lots of citations to studies, without overloading you with science. I like hearing the arguments against keto then hearing and understanding why those arguments are wrong.
