Critic reviews

"Granger has combined the cozy with the procedural for an engrossing look at an English village, one that pulls aside the veil of comfort to reveal the wickedness lurking beneath." ( Dallas Morning News)

An old fashioned who done it.

Once the story gets going it is quite intriguing but in many ways a bit dated in setting and delivery.

Full marks for all three

I have now listened to three of Ann Granger books involving Mitchell and Markby , the plots have been entertaining and engrossing. I have especially enjoyed the varied voices of Judith Boyd,

Great entertainment

Another great story by Ann Granger. And read so beautifully by Judith Boyd. I'm always quite lost when I get to the end and have to come back to reality.

I hope this is not the last book in the series!

A great listen for ALL the family. We now look forward to long car journeys.

characters

enjoyed this story and most of characters, definitely didn't see final twists or culprit. only disagree with the fact that the old woman was allowed to get away with her part in the murder, she absolutely should have been faced up with her wrongdoings. what she did was understandible but so so wrong. she literally got away with it because she shouted and bullied her way out.

Excellent story well read

Ann Granger doesn't disappoint with this carefully-crafted story excellently read by Judith Boyd. You really want to know what happens next. All the characters are well-drawn so one doesn't get confused as to who is whom, which I find can happen when one listens to rather than reads a story.

First rate

Another great M and M story; with a fairly unusual twist. My only disappointment was I thought it would conclude with a wedding, and it didn't!

Good story

I had trouble placing the story in time. The narration and some of the characters felt like it was 1950s but they have computers and DNA. It felt disjointed because of this.
