Summary

When Meredith Mitchell agreed to stay with her actress cousin, Eve, in the run up to Eve's daughter's wedding, she anticipated a degree of drama. But she can hardly have expected it to include murder, blackmail, and unrequited love. Or to involve a certain Chief Inspector Markby, a middle-aged divorcee.

As material witness to the only case of murder the Cotswold village of Westerfield has ever seen, Meredith soon becomes involved in the case and with helping Chief Inspector Markby. Meredith is a career diplomat and soon needs her considerable skills when steering a path between her duty to the police and loyalty to her cousin's family.

Second Time Around

Yes, I am on my second journey through this collection. First time I read the books, now I am listening to them. Great that you get much more of the storyline with an audio book.

Enjoyable

Easy to listen to. Enjoyable but not a page turner. No concentration required, good to listen to while doing other things.

Enjoyable light crime story

I enjoyed this, my first dip into the Mitchell and Markby Village and I will give the pair another go. The story is light and easy listening also well read, with the characters well defined. However I was not convinced by the heroine's discovery of the murderer. It seemed a rather contrived finale, thus the four stars

Fun listen.

This was fun to listen to. It is well produced. The plot allows plenty of opportunity for guessing who dunnit, should you wish.
