About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
We are all bombarded with advice about what we should and shouldn’t eat, and new scientific discoveries are announced every day. Yet the more we are told about nutrition, the less we seem to understand.
Through his pioneering scientific research, Tim Spector has been shocked to discover how little good evidence there is for many of our most deep-rooted ideas about food. In a series of short, myth-busting chapters, Spoon-Fed reveals why almost everything we’ve been told about food is wrong. Spector explores the scandalous lack of good science behind many medical and government food recommendations, and how the food industry holds sway over these policies and our choices.
Spoon-Fed is a groundbreaking book that forces us to question every diet plan, official recommendation, miracle cure or food label we encounter, and encourages us to rethink our whole relationship with food.
Diet may be the most important medicine we all possess. We urgently need to learn how best to use.
Critic reviews
"The nutrition revolution is well underway and Tim Spector is one of the visionaries leading the way. His writing is illuminating and so incredibly timely." (Yotam Ottolenghi)
"Will actually help you decide what to add to your next grocery shop... This is one of the clearest and most accessible short nutrition books I have read: refreshingly open-minded, deeply informative and free of faddish diet rules." (Bee Wilson)
"Dispelling decades of misinformation...Spoon-Fed is a fascinating read." (Tony Turnbull)

Educational
Extremely interesting and makes you reconsider everything you have ever learned about food. Each chapter can be picked out and read alone.

Significant Diet Guide
This is superb, probably the best diet guide you will ever read along with "The Diet Myth" by the same author.

Very, very, informative
This book takes a really practical and scientific look at what we consume. If you do not learn something and on the back of that learning commit to change, I would be very, very, surprised...

such an important book
I got this after hearing Tim Spector on radio 4's, 'the spark'. Robbed me of a lot of diet myths that have likely been causing me harm.

Interesting but inconsistent
I really enjoyed this book, but it felt less coherent than I had been expecting. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining and contained a lot of valuable information. There were also clearly some developments from Tim Spector's previous perspectives in "Diet Myths", so it was worthwhile reading this as well. But I felt like the chapters were written separately without functioning as a whole. Oftentimes, information would be stated which made no sense considering what had been said a few chapters earlier. I was especially annoyed with the frequent references to calories throughout the book, sometimes referring to calory counts as valid and sometimes as total nonsense. Stuff like that annoyed, but it was still a good listen and I recommend it nonetheless.

Everyone should read this book
The information in this book is so important it should be read by everyone. Dr Tim explains in simple terms what we should and shouldn’t be eating, plus he explains why so many research programmed are biased as they are funded by huge food corporations.
A really informative, groundbreaking and absorbing book.
Thoroughly recommend.
