About this listen

As the daughter of a duke, Lady Josephine has a long list of responsibilities, and an even longer list of things she must never do to dishonor the family name. Josephine knows exactly which side becoming an author falls upon, but she's determined to try her hand at it anyway. For months she has worked on her novel in secret, writing chapter after chapter of intrigue and romance. Unfortunately for Josephine, her sworn enemy stumbles upon her secret.

Sir Andrew Wycomb's close relationship to the Duke of Montfort's family and heir gives him more than one advantage in life. His loyalty to the family is absolute, even if he finds at least one of its members an annoyance. He and Lady Josephine have never seen eye to eye. But when he discovers that she's written a novel upon a subject she knows nothing about, he cannot help but sympathize with her dream. This creates an unlikely ceasefire between them.

But things at the castle are always changing, and when a determined suitor arrives to court Josephine, Andrew has to decide which secrets he's going to keep. Especially when he discovers the one he's kept even from himself—that perhaps he doesn't find Josephine an annoyance at all. In fact, she is quite charming. The more time they spend together, the more he hopes she will realize they aren't enemies, and they could be so much more....

Delightful witty banter, sweet & swoony story

Sir Andrew and the Authoress was such a sweet story!! It has the most delightful witty banter I've read in a while, while never diminishing the slow burn, sweet chemistry between Sir Andrew and Lady Josephine. Seriously, I loved this friends-to-more story, and of course, the part where they start seeing the other in a different light is always the sweetest in this trope, and this story didn't disappoint! I also enjoyed the historical part of this book, and how the author informs the reader about the things that were going on in London, especially with some of Parliament's decisions and their effects on the lower classes. Truly, the balance between it all was done really well, even more so by adding Josephine's quest to better herself as an author. :)

The narrator was fantastic bringing all the characters to life and giving each of them a distinct voice (and while I may have had trouble with the Dowager's voice at the beginning, it disappeared quickly and didn't hinder my enjoyment of this audiobook). Her performance of all the emotions was on point and it definitely brought the experience to a new level.

Overall, a great addition to the Clairvoir Regency Romance series, though it truly can be read on its own (I've only read the first one, and I didn't feel like I was missing much from not having read the previous book in the series, though I still plan to). Perfect for fans of the author, the Sweet Historical Romance genre, and/or the best friends to more sprinkled with witty banter trope. I can't wait for the next one! ~ 5 stars!
