Summary
Human - angel - Nephilim. How can Riley fit in anywhere when he doesn’t know who or what he is?
With his mysterious heritage shrouded in shadow, Riley Shepard struggles with his identity, his confusing sexuality, and the prohibited - but deepening - feelings for his guardian angels. Questions remain unanswered. His guardians harbor secrets. And danger lurks just out of sight.
When disaster strikes, Riley must make a choice that will change everything. But will his sacrifice destroy the life he’s built? Will there be anything left when the dust settles?
To him, it makes no difference. Because for them, it is worth the risk.
Sacrifice is the second book in the slow-burn harem/poly romance series Fire & Brimstone, featuring hurt/comfort, temptingly sexy guardian angels, forbidden love, and an unlikely hero who discovers what it means to be free.
Trigger warnings include: situations of homophobia (both external and internal), violence with low-level gore, and sexual assault.

Fantastic
A fantastic sequel by Nikole Knight. The adventure continues with amazing characters. Kirt Graves did a rockstar job with the narration.

Riley’s journey with his angels
This second book keeps getting better. Riley is still very virginal and his crush on his angels kept in secret. There are forces that want him, because he is not merely human, he is a nephilim and not just that. His guardians have to make sacrifices to protect him, and that was a sad moment but he protects them back. I can not wait for the next one as Mr Graves does a great job narrating doing many voices smoothly.

A Sacrifice Done in Love
The second book in the Fire and Brimstone series, Sacrifice continues the story right where book one left off. Due to this continuous story structure, this series MUST be read in order.
Like the title suggests, the book’s main theme is sacrifice, both in love due to the forbidden desire Riley and his angels feel for each other, and in battle. Riley’s family heritage is still a mystery, but outside forces have all set their eyes on him. With the danger closing in, all the characters will have to make hard choices that will forever alter their future and their relationship with each other. This whole series could easily be an anime – the drama, suspense, and plot all would translate very well into a graphic novel or anime series.
The audiobook was narrated by Kirt Graves who has the perfect voice for all the characters. He does a great job keeping the narration smooth and flowing that makes for a great listening experience.

Getting better as it goes
Even better than the first. Great world-building, character development, and dynamics. This journey likes different but is one we’ve all known. The journey to true self free of outside forces can be harrowing. It is well represented here. Narration is good. I did listen at a higher speed.

Saints And Sinners! What A Amazing Follow Up!
Sacrifice: Fire and Brimstone Scroll 2 by Nicole Knight is the second in this instalment of her fantasy series about Angels and Demons.
I loved Revelations (Book 1) and couldn’t wait to download and listen to Sacrifice, it didn’t disappoint, in fact it surpassed my expectations and then some!
Riley is still learning to negotiate life and friendships with his recent independence away from his controlling and abusive foster mother, coming to terms with his own sexuality and his newfound powers.
As always his Guardian’s are there to guide him and protect him, his Angels, Gideon, Jai and Noel, while struggling with their growing attraction to their ward.
The listener is drawn in from the beginning and becomes fully invested with the character, which we are learning, little by little, are not all that they seem.
This book was definitely darker and much more difficult to read in places and I can’t wait to listen to the next in the series!

Amazing!
This is the second book in the series and it starts where the first book ended, it is not a standalone. I really loved the first book and was really looking forward to read the second and it definitely lived up to my expectations! I loved all the characters and I thought that their development in the second book was great. Each one of them was unique and interesting. I also really liked the lore and the world building. The book was full of action, some scenes were very intense and had me biting my fingernails. And I thought that the big reveal towards the end was very interesting. I can't wait to read the next book! I loved this audiobook, I thought that the narrator did a brilliant job and really brought the story to life. Excellent!

My favorite angels are back
I enjoyed the first book in this series and so was interested to see where this second one might go. And, let me say, it went to some very dark places. And I’ll mention the violence up front. Low-level gore is the trigger warning, and it’s accurate. My heart bled and my stomach churned when I heard what was done to one of the characters. That being said, there was, on the flip side, plenty of humor. Riley has discovered his true nature – he’s Nephilim. That means pretty much everyone – all the demons and angels – want a piece of him. He’s all-powerful and hasn’t learned to control his impulses. Hence his need for guardians. Jai and Noel are adorable angelic minders while Gideon tries to control the motley crew. And as Christmas approaches, it looks like things might have settled.
But all is not as it seems. Riley has human things to deal with. His horrible foster mother for one. Just her existence makes me ill, and her appearance broke my heart. Then there’s Riley going on a date with a friend and the fallout when his angels discover this. When it all becomes too much and he takes a walk? That’s when things go truly sideways and the true violence begins. I wondered if the group could save one of their own who was badly hurt. I wondered if they could escape where they were. I wondered what the repercussions would be for Riley using his power. What was he willing to sacrifice to save one of the ones he cares most about?
I got a somewhat satisfactory ending, but it’s very clear Riley’s story is far from over. He just wants to go to college with his three angel minders. Powers far greater than his have other things in mind. Stay tuned…
I’ll also mention Kirt Graves. I adore him and his narration worked for this story. Interesting to see where the next instalment takes me.

Oh Wow!
Trigger Warning: Torture and sexual assault of a main character. It's off-page, but still very much there.
I loved this audiobook, even through all the dark, painful parts. Riley is growing and maturing, slowly discovering his sexuality, as he overcomes the years of abuse and repression suffered at the hands of his foster mother. She had trauma of her own, but her behavior makes it hard to sympathize with her. This 'scroll' of the story has drama, trauma, suspense, even some really funny bits and exchanges. We learn more about Riley and who (and what) he really is, and why the darkness wants him. There is the Sacrifice alluded to by the title and it is terrible and painful. Hopefully, the found family of Riley and his angels can recover. I am hooked waiting for the next audiobook.
I have to say I am appreciating this story more in audiobooks than I did reading it. The written word seemed to drag a bit for me, but the audiobooks with Kirt Graves narration really bring the story to life for me, especially all the dramatic, emotional parts. Excellent job!
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

This series is 🔥
This book was the definition of a roller coaster! For the first half, it was all adorable cluelessness, so much pining, and just this brilliant lovely found family that I could read a billion books about. Then it was all edge of the seat action, new and exciting characters, plot twists and epic worldbuilding. I seriously do not know how this series isn’t being read by everyone everywhere. We got first kisses and epic battles, confessions of feelings and devastating revelations; and through it all I wanted more! Kirt Graves is a MASTER narrator. So many unique voices as the cast grows, and just the perfect voice to this series. I wish I could wait for them all to come out on audio, but alas, I’m going to have to read them all immediately THEN listen to them on audio. Poor me 😂
