About this listen

Ellie Summers' life is unravelling. Finding herself pregnant, and her sexy but idle boyfriend Rick less than enthusiastic about parenthood, she needs a plan. Fast. Grace Soudley's life is also coming apart at the seams, her only security is the beautiful yet crumbling old house she was left by her godmother. But unless she can find a fortune, Luckenham House will disintegrate around her.

When Ellie and Grace meet, the two very different women find they can help each other out. Ellie needs a place to stay; Grace needs a lodger. Both of them need a friend. But then the disconcertingly engaging Flynn Cormack arrives on the scene, apparently determined to help. And when Grace discovers some beautiful painted panels hidden behind the tattered dining-room curtains, the whole business of restoration starts to get serious.

Fantastic

As always, I loved this book by Katie Fforde. I found I couldn't stop listening to it until it was finished, and downloaded the next one right away!

Highly recommended

Restoring Grace

Wonderful story. Romantic and witty. Couldn't put it down. Narrated Emily's Fix was just perfect with all the different charecters. I will choose more with her reading.

nice story but abrupt ending

The story was quite nice. I liked that there were 2 main female characters (platonic friendship). it always annoys me how so many lead characters in these stories have no backbone and can't even stand up to family members. they are nice characters but they just need a bit of ummmph sometimes.

It does end rather abruptly though.

Wonderful but cut short

The abridged version cut it all too short for me wonderful story though! Wish they had the unabridged in audible!

A double romance

At the beginning Grace's house is empty of love and almost of possessions. Then Ellie enters - she brings in joy, comfort and furniture. It is a double romance in one story, as Ellie and Grace both find new loves. Themes in the book include wine tasting, problem solving and painting restoration.

Updating my review to say that occasionally I listen to this book again and each time, I find the narration slightly over the top and lament the fact that they still haven't released an unabridged version on Audible, despite having released the rest of the back catalogue of KF books.

Disappointing

Didn't realise the book was abridged until it was too late. It was lacking substance and frustrating weak story line.
