About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Can her heart be mended too?

Garland Fairford has it all - her dream job as a historical Costumier in London and handsome fiancée, Marco.

Whilst creating a replica of a dress worn by a Victorian actress, Garland, an orphan, meets a long-lost relative - Honey Fairford. Garland is delighted and intrigued to discover Honey is planning to open a wedding dress museum in Lancashire.

When Garland loses her fiancée and her job in the same week, she accepts Honey's offer to work at the museum. But building a new life for herself is put on hold when a ghost from her past, Thom, reappears.

As Garland repairs beautiful vintage wedding dresses for the museum, and her relationship with Thom, could this finally be the chance for her own happy-ever-after?

Enjoyable, but certainly not her best

I've read and enjoyed pretty well all Trisha Ashley's books, sometimes more than once. This one, although a cosy romantic listen, did feel as if it was written to fulfil a deadline. The plot is predictable and entirely without surprises, and although I'm always quite happy with a bit of background detail, this time there was so much given that it teetered very close to 'padding'. I'd also love to know how, with details of so many meals and cakes being eaten, Garland manages to remain so tiny! However, (and despite the strangely misleading title), I would say that if you are looking for a purely comfort read, you could do much worse than this one.

I loved it.....

I love Trisha Ashley and I'm only sorry that I have read all her books. Though listening to them performed is as good as re-reading them. I particularly love how her books are all interlinked so, on occasion, you actual get updates on your favourite characters in the novels that follow; and this book did not disappoint..... I really enjoyed the whole idea of the wedding dress museum and could picture something like that actually being a thing. The way the two stories ran parallel, that of Rosa-May, was also great fun, if not very sad. I know I've said it before but I'll say it again, I loved Trisha Ashley and may she write many many more.

Average listen

I have really enjoyed reading this author’s books in the past so thought I would try this one on audible. It started out okay even though the main characters voice was slightly annoying but it was very predictable and I felt as though it was very padded out as the book went on. I did finish it but really lost interest in the last third.

Brilliant as always

I loved listening to this book. I read the book first which I greatly enjoyed. I thought the readers did an excellent job in portraying the characters. Highly recommend

Great performance, slow dragging predictable story

Excellent audio narration but the entire story was boring and repetitive, often drifted off and had to really concentrate to force myself to listen.

Intriguing and enjoyable

Good story line, read really well and introducing enough characters to create a good story but not too many to get confusing. Appealing description of the setting …. Very much enjoyed.

Good twist.

Easy listening & similar ingredients as other Trisha Ashley books. Good as a light hearted listen
