About this listen

It's real. All of it. A realm of blasters, spaceships, and magic. A universe where people really can increase in skill and power, becoming so much more than they once were.

All it takes is the locked potential of every foe you slay, their stories becoming your own.

Yet there is horror as well as wonder in this magical realm, and when Val locks gazes with a beautiful girl moments away from death, he comes face-to-face with a lost tribe of people long thought extinct. Just a handful of survivors, and thousands more trapped in deepest slumber, only hours away from death.

Even as Val embraces the most perilous and noble task of his life, an entire dreadnought filled with enemy soldiers readies itself for the next step in their campaign of conquest, and Earth is the prize they will claim.

To bad they didn't see Val coming. No one ever does.

better than book 1

a great book very good narration really brings the characters and the RPG lit style to life. the story continues Val's journey more enjoyable than book 1 as it avoids the merging of worlds book 1 had. the narration really makes this enjoyable.

too op lacks progression feeling

it's only a simple not so creative story of a man that has ability and power to do everything.

lit rpg are a bit about this, trying to get that perfect loadout feeling or that time you levelled up, abused a glitch or found all the choices and possibilities to spec yourself.

this story lacks in these areas and the potential felt when he landed in the new world was let down. limited creativity and worldbuilding with generic op, ness

outstanding

Funny, clever and a fast paced story. The performance is fantastic as well, more like an audio drama than an audio book

Even better than book 1!

At least it feels that way due to how bad the ending makes me yearn for book 3. So, same great characters and narration. Engaging story. If I were to quibble, here's what I'd pick on. The prose. It just tries too hard. I feel like the author is trying to be a modern day American Shakespeare. Every thought and action delves into this deep and dramatic narrative that might serve to impress your writing professor or writers group, but as a listener, it just gets a little bit tedious. The MC needs to take more cold showers. Seriously. Every woman he encounters sparks this uncontrolled lust and love affair. "Hey, I just faced down one of the most dangerous people in the universe and freed his human chattel. Think I'll bang one out on the hallway floor with my most hated nemesis because she's hot and I just can't help myself. Facepalm.

Anyway, it's a good story and I can't wait for book 3.
