Summary
Explore! Level up! Take over an entire planet, and take out anyone that gets in your way!
Against all odds, Val and his men have survived a savage assault initiated by a ruthless foe. But Val was forced to pay a steep price after taking out the enemy commander, a retributive curse that has every living Jordian eager to claim his scalp, including his own allies!
Only Julia, a Terran half-blood like him, is immune, and there is only one way to break the curse.
They have to charge into enemy territory, sneak past countless troops, and somehow defeat an entire clan of Highlords hungry for their heads.
For Val, it’s not just about survival.
It’s about revenge.
He is determined to take out the bastards who thought they could enslave his entire planet under the guise of a virtual reality game. And what better way to accomplish this than by seizing control of the very world spearheading the invasion of Earth!
Val better act fast, using strategies no one ever sees coming, because the entire corrupt council of Jordian Highlords will stop at nothing to destroy the Terran gamer who dares to walk the Path of Kings!

Pure love for the series
I can't express how much I love this series, All I can say there is only say there is only one character I really can't stand and that 's ok. I don't want to spoil anything for you all I can say is if you have like the series so far then you will like this one. Keep up the good work M.H Johnson

good
everything is in the extreme. nothing is nuanced. everything is commented on in the same over explicit way. and eveyone talks the same way. the different voices def help out in a major way.

Great story, challenging narrative
Listening to this is like swimming through syrup. The heavy, molasses-like narrative can be a challenge to listen to. It can become so thick and hammy at times. The information dumps are also painful, like the worst anime over-explanation for every little skill and character motivation is just tedious. Characters will go off on a tangent of congratulatory back-slapping and flattery in a clumsy attempt to explain another character's powers. Then there's the passive writing. It's like the author deliberately goes out of his way to avoid active statements. Wayne does a good job narrating, as usual, but the mispronunciations are pretty common. Pronouncing scintillating as skin-til-ay-ting is like nails on a chalkboard, and it he does it a lot. There are other, semi-frequent mispronunciations, but that one is extra jarring.
So why have I gone on through 5 books and will continue to listen if I'm just going to bitch and nit pick? Because it's a damn good story. The author does a great job of creating a MC with exceptional power but also vulnerabilities to keep him from being able to simply crush all before him. Having delved this deep into the story, there's no way I won't see it through to the end and be glad for it.
