About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Anna has just lost her taste for the Big Apple…
She has a life to envy. An apartment in New York. A well-meaning (too well-meaning?) partner. And a high-flying job in beauty PR. Who wouldn’t want all that?
Anna, it turns out.
Trading a minor midlife crisis for a major life event, she switches the skyscrapers of Manhattan for the tiny Irish town of Maumtully (population 1,217), helping old friends Brigit and Colm set up a luxury coastal retreat.
Tougher than it sounds. Newflash: the locals hate the idea. So much so, there have been threats – and violence.
Anna, however, worked in the beauty industry. There’s no ugliness she hasn’t seen. No wrinkle she can’t smooth over.
There’s just one fly in the ointment – old flame Joey Armstrong.
He’s going to be her wingman.
Never mind their chequered history. Never mind what might have been.
Because no matter how far you go, your mistakes will still be waiting for you . . .
‘Furiously funny and stealthily profound. There’s so much depth, but reading it made me feel happier and lighter than I have in ages – it’s sexy, smart, wise, touching and fun' Daisy Buchanan
'Keyes’s is so good at upping the tension in will they/won’t they scenarios, keeping the characterisation rich and the jokes frequent. She somehow keeps it both light and intensely important at the same time' i

Excellent story! Excellent narration!
I felt like I was in this story as I listened to Marian read it. Not only is she an excellent writer but also an amazing story teller.

did not like the narration.
the narration had no depth; characters were one dimensional which is shame, as story was fun and characters would have been more likeable had book been read by an actor. nearly returned it, but story was good enough to keep me listening.

Will she or won't she.....
Another fab book from Marian Keyes. Lots to follow in the story with Anna and her family. The usual quips and craic you expect on your way to the ..... will she or won't she....? Really enjoyed this book, only sad that I now have to wait aaaaages for the next one 😁

Really Underwhelming.
I have since reading this realised that this is one in a series, and there are 4 other 'Walsh Family' books. So I appreciate that maybe I should have read them first, to fall in love with the characters
However, this was such a long book! After 10 hours, I really felt like 1 or 2 chapters could have rounded out the story, not another 5 hours!!
It's just so very drawn out, nice story but way too much filler for me.

A wonderful story about friendship and love
I really enjoyed this audible. I loved listening to Anna's journey in menopause, friendships and loves. Wonderfully read by Marian Keyes with the Irish warmth and humour that she is so good at.

A new Walsh family novel!
I loved it! So enjoyable. I laughed out loud so many times whilst listening. Marian always writes her characters with such honesty. You care about them straight away. A great book.
