About this listen
Jamie protests his innocence but soon spirals into a breakdown fuelled by frustration, self-pity, and drink, and it is left to his friend, Matt Shepherd, to fight his corner. Can he find the truth behind what appears to be a motiveless murder?

A Great Story
I didn't know this author but am glad to find him. What I liked about this story especially, was the fact that the characters did what common sense suggested which doesn't always happen. So I wasn't left thinking ' that was stupid, no one would do that!' The story moves along at a fast pace and there is always something keeping the reader guessing. Language was in keeping and I felt really involved. The ending was also satisfying, unlike some recent reads and left me looking up his other books, which I will certainly buy. They are all in my wish list now.

Slow starter….but worth the wait!
Loved this book, as a Dick Francis fan I found it had lots of similar elements.
I really enjoyed it, found it a little slow in the beginning but it gathered pace.
Great listen!

A day at the races
This is an exciting who dunnit. As it is also about the life of a steeplechase jockey and his world, it is also an eye opener on UK steeplechasing world and its hazards (of which I knew almost nothing).
Matt Shepherd is a good friend of fellow jockey, Jamie Mullin, who, it seems from the behaviour of the police, is the most likely suspect in the murder of his girlfriend.
From initially defending his friend's innocence Matt finds hinself committed to clearing Jamie's name by finding the real killer. Matt's loyalty to Jamie, and his promise to help him, first upsets then endangers his job as a jockey, his relationship with his fiancee, Cassandra and ultimately his life.
This well-told thriller has an excellent narrator in Jonathon Keeble and is a riverting 'read'.

Good storyline, brilliant narrative
I chose this book because of the narrator Jonathan Keeble. It is a good book, good storyline, I've found there was a little too much padding and sometimes things got a bit overly complicated, all in all good though
