Summary

DI Brook thought the nightmare was over- but the Reaper has left behind a horrifying legacy…

When an accidental drowning is found to be murder, Brook’s past relationship with the victim makes him the prime suspect. A fact made worse when he receives a chilling message urging him to continue the work of the serial killer The Reaper, the deranged vigilante who had previously terrorised the UK.

When a copycat murder on a Derby estate surfaces shortly afterwards, Brook is left with no alternative but to reopen the case- and to find a serial killer he knows is already dead.

But as Brook delves deeper, he unearths the secrets behind a series of savage murders stretching back to 1975. Terrifyingly, it seems that The Reaper’s influence has inspired a new band of willing disciples…

A nail-shredding thriller for fans of Stuart MacBride and Thomas Harris.

Loving DI Brook series

I live this series. I can’t believe that it’s not been picked up by a TV production company. DI Brook would sit along Vera on ITV perfectly.

The narrator and his performance really brings it to life. I have read all the books and unlike some audibles this does them justice.

I only wish the author and publisher would sort out whatever issue is holding back the first episode from being recorded. It not being available does the series a disservice and probably puts off new readers from investing in audible.

Great story

Loved it, read beautifully.
Did manage to work out who done it just before it was
revealed.

like the book best narrriator brings it to life

I listened to the first part of the book but it was hard to follow as it is a continuation of the first book
the first book is not in audible form the reaper
The best is Johnathan Keeble bringing the characters to life so I decided if I want to listen to the rest of the books I need to read the first book the reaper
I prefer audible I am not a big reader but I made my way through the book and once finished i started from the beginning with this book
it all then made sense
I suppose in away listening to the characters coming to life before I read the reaper helped me imagine the voices of the characters all the way through the book but it would have been better if the reaper was audible and narriated by Johnathan Keeble

Great story shame about the narrator

I have to confess that I really dislike Keeble although his narration here is less awful than his later performances. He seems to forget that Jason is supposed to be a resident of Derbyshire and gives him more of a Liverpool accent, and, as we all know, Derby (where Jason is supposed to live) is a fair way from Liverpool and the accents are very different.

The story is just as fabulous as you would expect if you'd read The Reaper, Damon is the same annoying man he was previously too, I'm saying no more, I definitely recommend this series (except for the Keeble narrated ones, that's on your own head if you choose to listen to them).
