About this listen
Love and History
The sporty roommate, the professor, and a history lesson....
Holden
Ezra might be the most annoying roommate ever. He’s loud, obnoxious, and full of himself. So what if he’s a tall, muscular, tattooed jock? His tendency to strip to his boxers in the kitchen while helping himself to my food isn’t endearing in the slightest. Nope. Ezra has to go.
However, I have to admit, he’s the perfect fit to play the king for my historic reenactment event. Ezra in a royal robe…oh, this could be quite tantalizing indeed.
He won’t do it, though.
Unless I trick him into a history lesson.
Ezra
Holden is the kind of dude who wears top hats and great coats while teaching astrophysics to brainiacs. Weird, right? But I gotta respect that level of commitment. And I respect him.
Sadly, Holden doesn’t feel the same way about me.
I guess I can’t blame him. Cranking his gears has been a highlight of my stint in geek land. I’ve never seen anyone get riled about yogurt like him. He makes me laugh. And think. And he makes me want things I’d never thought possible.
So yeah, I’ll take that history lesson. If it leads to something more, I’m in.
Love and History is a Bi-awakening geek/jock romance featuring a messy law student, a picky professor, and a lesson neither will forget!

May be my favourite book of the series
OMG this might be my favourite of the series. I loved Holden and all his nerdy ways. A science geek and a history buff all rolled into one. I loved how he used words long forgotten. But as much as a loved Holden, it was Ezra who stole my heart. He's a real Jock but he's also loyal, passionate, and enthusiastic. And so terribly conflicted about his feelings surrounding his Dad. I just wanted to give him a big hug.
Thankfully the 'big misunderstanding' I was predicting didn't materialise in the easy I expected, although when the conflict came I was sobbing.
The narrator wasn't someone I'm familiar with but I thought he did an excellent job. So much so I'm going to check out the other audio books in the series.

Love and History
A great book by Lane Hayes, Love and History is the 6th and final book in the series but the first I have listened to. However, I didn’t feel I had missed out by jumping in at the end.
Ezra and Holden are great together with their story of opposites attract, jock/nerd bi-awakening, oh and a little bit of Shakespeare in the park to mix it up a bit.
With Alexander Candese narrating I may just go back and listen to books 1-5 ☺️

The Geek and the Jock
I’ve enjoyed this series tremendously and was happy to grab this title. I love the contrasts between the two men – Holden the strait-laced by-the-book brainiac and Ezra the easy-going guy – except when it comes to his future as a lawyer. In that, he’s all seriousness. Ezra also had a great emotional wound – which provided an explanation for some of his behavior.
But the premise was cute – they’re roommates who are secretly attracted. Ezra shelves that because he’s happy with his housing situation and doesn’t want to rock the boat. Holden pushes those feelings aside because Ezra’s straight and, for the moment, Holden needs his help.
See, Holden needs a King Henry the VIII for the fair. He’s playing Shakespeare, but the needs a king. Ezra, in his glory, is the perfect Henry. Well, before Henry went all corpulent with gluttony, anyway. Ezra agrees and this means the two have to spend a lot of time in each other’s company. One thing leads to another and…well, yeah. Now the dark moment felt vaguely contrived, but that was a minor blip. Overall, I enjoyed the story.
Alexander Cendese is a competent narrator and he’s handled this series really well. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with these nerds and jocks.

Very enjoyable
A great performance coupled with a solid story, Love and History was an enjoyable listen.
There were familiar beats of the story but the charming characters meant I was sucked into the story.
I haven't read/listened to all of this series but each are written in a way that you can enjoy them out of order.
The end acted as a kind of epilogue for the entire series and there was a rough tie in to the Better Than series, which was sweet

Holden and Ezra for the win in series closer
This roommates-to-lovers romp was perhaps my favorite of the series, featuring tattooed massive jock Ezra and sweet, fastidious history nerd Holden. In real life they play a law student and a science professor, but at home they bicker and prank to push each other’s buttons like a couple of adolescents. Characters who profess a distaste for emotional connection and commitment are just asking to get hit with Cupid’s bow, and boy does Cupid come through. I also love a Gay for You trope, and the execution here was perfection. Holden and Ezra start out like oil and water but end up like gasoline and matches. The heat level gets turned up to high, and the feels follow close behind. There are appearances from the other couples in the series, and I enjoyed these check-ins immensely. The narration by Alexander Cendese was sublime – perfectly suited to the characters and the material.

Loved it!
5 Stars!
Ezra and Holden couldn't have been more different from each other, a cocky law student and a science and history geek and astrophysics professor, who happen to be roommates. Ezra usually gets on Holden's nerves, but now Ezra might be the only one who could help Holden with his historic reenactment event, and maybe Holden could've been wrong about Ezra.
Both Ezra and Holden were so likable and I loved listening to Holden start seeing Ezra in a different light as they get to know each other better and explore the scorching chemistry between them. The renaissance fair setting was too much fun. Just thinking of Ezra parading as King Edward had me in stitches, LOL.
Alexander Cendese did a great job with the narration, bringing Ezra, Holden, and the rest of the secondary characters to life with his fantastic performance.
Overall, this was an amazing addition to the series! A fun, hot, low-angst story with a swoon-worthy epilogue that you don't want to miss! Highly recommendable!

Narration makes everything even better!
Alexander's narration has really brought these characters to life! I really enjoyed the book when I read it but with the voice's that Alexander lends to the characters, they make me smile and bring out the personalities and emotions so well! I can't believe this is the first in the series I've listened to! Need to go back and binge the series from the start.
I have loved this series from the start and it just personifies what the author gives readers throughout - entertainment, opposites attract, quirky characters and an enjoyable romance.
Holland is the epitome of quirky with his PhD is astrophysics and microbiology whilst also taking part in the local Historical Reenactment Society and casually wearing cloaks and ruffles for the everyday. His opposite is his annoying housemate, Ezra. Soon to be lawyer, lacrosse player and generally positive guy who just happens to enjoy annoying Holland, a tiny bit. Their banter back and forth to start with is funny, clearly irking Holland whilst Ezra enjoys himself. It's not until Holland needs help with his HRS and Ezra is the perfect candidate that they spend more time together and Ezra's attraction comes to light.
It's such a sweet and equally heated development between the two, even with the agreement that it won't be anything more. From the start you can tell they share something special and it's heartwarming as they share painful moments from their past, wants for the future etc. We have a little interaction with everyone from the series and it's so good to catch up with them and see how far and we'll everyone has done. Even with them all moving on with other people, the Script Club still come back together.
So sad to see the end of this wonderful series but Lane has done it justice with another great romance with brilliant MCs.

so funny 😁
l adore a Lane Hayes story, she delivers great swoon-worthy, witty, sizzling, page-turning must-read romances. Cute banter, personal development, vulnerability, and some teary moments made this one a page turner. Holden and Ezra's story had me hooked from the beginning. I adored Ezra, loved how this larger than life, tactless scallywag, settled himself nicely in the middle of Holden and his friend's lives, and totally rocked Holden's world. Well done to Ms Hayes for truly getting inside Ezra's head, how Holden thought he was going to be able to keep away from the loveable scoundrel was beyond me.
I love stories where the central relationship, starts out with the MCs being antagonists, then builds up with increasing romantic tension towards their inevitable 'get together.' Ezra's romancing of Holden through his love of Shakespeare was a great idea, it led to some wonderful one liners. As a Brit, this was definitely one of my favourites:
“Pip, pip, cheerio, you bloody bell end,” he singsonged."
The relationship that eventually developed was quite sweet too, with both guys bringing out the best side of the other. It's a pet hate of mine in romance stories where the relationship seems to be destructive to either or both of the characters involved, but there was none of that here. Ezra and Holden were so sweet together, all the while being utterly hilarious, and while the story dealt with some family issues, it stayed away from any thing really angsty. A perfect ending to the series, I also adored once again meeting Asher, Blake, Tommy, Noah et al. The perfect icing on a wonderfully tasty cake. Alexander Cendese is wonderful in his narration, I adored his rendition of Ezra especially, absolutely loved it.

Love and History
What a great listen! The perfect end to a wonderful series. I love these characters. Ezra is a dreamboat, and they're such a perfect coupling. The narration was good. It generally takes me a minute to settle into this particular narrator, but once I do, it is terrific.
