The story:
In the dark corners of the Mortal Realms, the mad and mysterious Gloomspite Gitz go to war, following the trail of their abominable lunar deity. Nowhere is beyond the sight of the Bad Moon—not even those places under Sigmar’s protection, like the sweltering city of Draconium. Beneath the scalding rains of Aqshy, the city is a boiling pot of tension, its regent praying to Sigmar for guidance while Watch Captain Helena Morthan douses the fires of anarchy: blades drawn in the streets, heretical doomsayers preaching the end of days, and insects eating watchmen alive. When the grieving warrior Hendrick and his ragged warband arrive at the gates with a prophetic warning, Captain Morthan sees a way to save her people. But with the Bad Moon rising in the sky above and Skragrott the Loonking plotting in the depths below, will there even be a Draconium left for her to save?

Autism Power!
Cleverly written, not what I expected at all in that it was from the "good guys" viewpoint.
The Austisic mechanic Eleanora was written well and a very truthful view of so many on the spectrum.

Lunatic heroes against lunatic villains
This was a good one, a lot of laughs too. Sigmarite mercenaries get some info they are needed in a seemingly peaceful location with problematic acid rain and a huge volcano. They are not let in.
This might be difficult to listen if you dread spiders and other insects, mold and mushrooms.
Autistic engineers making bombs, stubborn dwarves complaining, moldy zombies and religious zealots.
It starts slow, but when the mold hits the fan, it really does hit with a bang. I'd describe the latter half of the book a bit too exciting compared to the first.
There's also gits but you have to listen to the book for more than three hours.

Outstanding!!
Only giving this five stars because I can’t give it TEN!
This should really sit in the Warhammer Horror stable.
A fantastic slow burn of mounting terror.
Andy Clark does a brilliant job of constructing a sense of claustrophobic fear and tension, made all the sweeter because the reader knows from the title and cover what the threat is.
The Gloomspite, though often funny in appearance and speech, come easily across as preeminent horror figures in this work, with there being absolutely nothing funny about their behaviour.
Harry Myers does an outstanding job narrating the tale, slipping easily from his narrator’s voice into the vast array of character voices that he delivers, all of them easily distinguishable from each other.
Highly recommended to my fellow readers.

Super listen
Really enjoyed the pace of the story, matching the journey of the characters. Really liked the focus on the effects of Gloomspite on a town. Well worth a listen.
The only problem is that I now want to collect some Goblins

A good story
A good story, interesting premise. The only problem is with the narration. While the reader gives an impression of different voices it seems every intonation of anger, crying out or shouting is said in the same mid tone. It isn’t monotone but there doesn’t seem much evidence of anger, crying out or shouting. It could just be me though

definitely my favourite AOS story
I was a bit annoyed it was from the perspective of the defenders rather than the gitz but it really gave weight to the horror of a gloomspite attack. turned those cute silly gitz into a lovecraftian horror

My new favourite book so far!
This book was just fantastic to me, I love the ‘dnd’ like group of main characters. The horror, mystery and overall torment that is put upon them. How the gitz are portrayed is brilliant and the whole book is just so enjoyable it really spoke to me. I wish I could read it again for the first time
