About this listen

It’s not a vacation until there’s a murder.

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are finally off to Florida on the vacation they’ve always talked about. Days filled with white sand, turquoise water, and fruity drinks are the only thing on the agenda. But when Gertie’s “hot date” turns up dead and she’s the number one suspect, they’re forced to hang up their bathing suits and shift to investigating mode.

They soon discover that Gertie’s beau was up to all kinds of shady behavior, leaving them with a long list of people who are happy he’s dead. But which one resorted to murder?

Fortune Furlough

Swamp team three take a holiday, after the first night there all he'll breaks loose, and they are trying to free Gerty from a murder charge. Read brilliantly again by Cassandra Campbell.

Stop being mean to Gerty!!

Love this series, but the endless making fun of Gerty is starting to come over as just plain mean. It’s meant to be amusing, but it goes on and on! For it to be good comic banter we all need to see flashes of real concern/ friendship/love to make the banter comic. It’s missing that.

Otherwise, I enjoyed it... more of a who-dunnit than usual and I liked the change of location/characters to spice it up!

Sun screen and murder

I really enjoyed this book but then again this is my go to author when I need cheering up. No matter what is going on in my life or how bad it is, Fortune and the rest of swamp team three can't fail but bring a smile to my face and make me thankful I don't live in Sinful. I would have a constant stitch from laughing. I love the characters and still can't understand why it hasn't become a tv series yet. In this book Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie manage to find trouble while on holiday and the laughs begin. The mystery was good too, with plenty of suspects to keep you guessing. So all that is left to do is sit back on the beach and wait for the next book.
When swamp team three go on vacation, Fortune thought the worst that would happen, was she would get a hangover or have to leave the comfort of her chair to rescue Gertie from herself. Instead she wakes up to banging on her door, when Gertie's date from the night before is found dead. The police like Gertie as the killer and Fortune's quiet relaxing time on the beach becomes a race to find a killer before Gertie is arrested. The dead man wasn't who he seemed to be but then again neither is Fortune, Ida Belle or Gertie.
I am so glad the author has stuck with the same narrator all the way through the series, as I can't imagine anybody else doing a better job of giving the characters a voice.
