About this listen
The death of her husband freed Serena Riverton from life as an abused sex object. Now, her brother plans to sell her to another vile man.
This time, Serena flees, but finds herself stranded and near penniless. When a passing gentleman offers help, Serena accepts, and develops a new plan: become a rich man's mistress so she can leave at any time.
Believing herself barren, Serena initiates a passionate encounter with her rescuer. However, Francis, Lord Middlethorpe, is already committed to a sweet-natured lady. He finds Serena refuge with an elderly relative, and must return to his life. Then Serena discovers she's pregnant.
They have no choice but to marry, but assailed by Serena's scheming brothers, Francis's appalled relatives and Serena's painful past, is there any hope for the loving future they both seek?
Contains mature themes.

Great story
Loved this book as I have all the Rogue books. The narrator is excellent and brings the story to life.

Puppy Love
Talented narrator brings verve and vigor to the various characters, which enliven this humourous tale of runaway sister with well-to-do toff with gaity and mirth. The soppy samey cover didn't promise much, but what is between them is clever, well written, poignant to the strife and strictures that governed females, rich or poor alike, until only recent times.
Laugh out laud funny at times contrasts with the harsh treatment metered out to the 15yo bride, Banshee the horse, who is whipped and jabbed in the mouth with a harsh bit. Let's hope the puppy fairs better.

Tedious. Tedious. Tedious!
The narrator is very good however, the story is quite simply drivel…
This is actually a sad story of 2 children (notwithstanding their adult ages), who are so infantile that they do not converse with each other about Anything and spend the entire story just guessing, surmising and assuming about each other! They to miraculously work things out in ten minutes and be blissfully in love in twenty, is Just. Too. Much!
I haven’t read any of the previous Rogue novels but if they are of a similar standard, I would not rush to do so.
This was part of the Audible Plus catalogue and I’m pleased that it is. Although I doubt that I would have come across this title if it wasn’t, I would have really begrudged paying for it also, if it wasn’t.

Endless angst
The story isn't badly written but the endless misunderstandings and simmering sexual tension with the occasional accidental bonking is a bit wearying.
