About this listen
In the business of unfinished business...
It’s been over six months since a freak accident left pathologist Tristan Everett able to see ghosts, something he has yet to confess to his boyfriend. Instead, he now has a new calling, one he’s not entirely happy about… help the dead resolve their unfinished business so they can pass into the light, sounds simple right?
Wrong…
When the spirit of a sweet old lady suffering from Alzheimers follows him home he has no idea how to help her. When he finds out she’s been murdered by arsenic poisoning, a curiously outdated murder weapon, he once again finds himself tangled up in a murder investigation.
For Inspector Danny Hayes of New Scotland Yard, life couldn’t be better. After moving to London and meeting Tristan he’s ready to move their relationship to the next level, but something weird is going on with Tristan, he’s acting very strangely and with a killer on the loose he’s not taking any chances. He’s determined to discover whatever it is Tristan’s hiding from him.
Surrounded by a bunch of potentially murderous old ladies and aided by his sidekick, deceased drag queen and spirit guide in training, Dusty, Tristan must unravel the mystery of Mrs Delores Abernathy’s unfinished business and find the courage to share his deepest secret with the man he loves.
From author Vawn Cassidy, comes the second book in this funny and touching paranormal MM romance/dark comedy suspense series.

Worth the wait!
I've been waiting for Dead Serious Case #2: Mrs Delores Abernathy to come out in audio format, having listened to the first book and just loved it that way. The audio didn't disappoint.
Joel Leslie seems to be at home with British set books and here it showcased his ability to have those subtle changes in accent. I particularly enjoy his voices for women.
Tristan and Danny are reaching a point in their relationship where things are pretty serious between them and Tristan knows he has to come clean about his ability to see the dead. I was glad that he decided to, and I won't spoil the reveal! Their relationship is just so sweet. I didn't want to see it damaged by dishonesty.
There's another case for Tristan to help Danny with, the murder of a sweet old lady in the care home Tristan's dad is in - oh Danny is so sweet with Martin!
Poor Delores is stuck in a cycle. She has Alzheimer's and can't communicate clearly what she needs. Rather than treat the terrible illness as a joke, Delores is sensitively dealt with throughout and her ending was so lovely.
There is an overarching plot to this series, and a few revelations in this book, as such, I would recommend reading/listening to book 1 first.
I'm really torn over waiting for book 3 to be in audio format, or just reading it! Especially after the info Tristan was given by a shadowy character towards the end. I don't think I can wait to find out what happens!

this series gets better and better
this is such an engaging premises. the second case is just as gripping as the first and there mix between comedy, mystery and romance is just right. the new sub plot means that each book will be more than just the next case. The narration is excellent and adds to the fun. I can't wait for book 3 to come to audio.

Great standalone story & series
Liked the character development across Danny, Dusty, Tristan and supporting team. Sam was a great introduction, cannot wait to hear more about him. Some hilarious interludes with the old ladies! Excellently narrated as always, if you enjoyed the first you will certainly enjoy this instalment.

Cliffhanger på slutet!
Den var inte lika bra som den första boken i serien, men helt ok hade sina roliga ställen och var spännande. Slutade med en cliffhanger som gjorde att man ville höra fortsättningen.

MM - Murder Mystery and Drag Queens
This series has everything: laughs, wit, deaths, drag queens, ghosts, and morgue humour. I could keep going, but I will leave some for you to discover. Hilarious is the main thing.
All I can really say is brilliant. The whole story is hilarious, laugh-out-loud funny. In this book, I didn't cry from sadness like in book one.
Tristian is the local pathologist and the most accident-prone person ever. He can see and talk to ghosts and, with his boyfriend, a Scotland Yard detective, solve crimes of the dead.
Joel Leslie outdid himself with this audio narration. He brought the characters to life and animated them perfectly. I really did have a silly smile on my face for two days.
I couldn't wait to start book three straight away. I can't recommend this enough; it's seriously great fun.
