Very Good
Again great storyline, wish I had listened to this one before the other one, only one more to go and I will have the full story, and I'm sure I will enjoy just as much👍☺

Interesting start to the series
I love this author's Calladine and Bayliss series, and have met DI Greco a couple of times in those books, and this is a spin-off series where Greco takes the lead.
There are dark themes in this book - child abuse, gambling, debt, drugs, terrorism. The plot is exciting and well written with plenty of twists and turns. We learn more of Greco's backstory. He didn't come across too well in the C & B series, but in this one we learn why he came to Oldston, and we see a more human side to him, though he still isn't a people person!
I didn't enjoy this as much as the C & B series, but I think that Greco might just grow on me so I'm looking forward to listening to the next one.

Sorry but I can’t stand the narrating voice
I did not finish the book. I did not like the voice. A pity because I like the author very much.

Mumbling narrator
Difficult to get into mainly due to unclear and mumbling narrator. Storyline was ok but cut short like it was a rush to finish. I’m glad it was free otherwise not worth buying.

Narration a bit funny.
The story was ok, got all wrapped up in a neat little bow very near to the end and wasn’t much of a surprise. The narrator could be good but he seemed to exaggerate the accents and some in the intonation so it felt like you were listening to a Dickensian novel sometimes or The League of Gentlemen comedy show. He would have been good if he’d just neutralised the accents and tone a bit. Not bad on the whole.

Narration spoilt the story
It’s a shame as the narrator spoils the story, his accents and changing from a whisper to loud made it hard going. But I am glad I persevered as the story overall isn’t bad and generally I enjoy Helen Durrant’s books.

Great story, annoying narration
Helen Durrant has never really disappointed with story lines or characters. Always entertaining and carry you along at a decent pace.
This narration is frustrating though - the whole "whisper/shout" approach means you either have to have you hand on the volume dial all the way through or you miss out on half of the book. Makes this hard going.

Too quiet
unfortunately the narration was far too quiet, I gave up after a few chapters. I'm sure the story was fine but I shall never know

Enjoyable introduction to a new series
I enjoyed this book, and the narrator, once I got used to his somewhat heavy voice. The lead character sometimes comes across as rather gloomy. But then he has his reasons.
