About this listen
Under the watchful eye of Detective Chief Superintendent James Langton, Anna is given her first case.
But is it a full-blown murder investigation or purely a missing person's case? An ominous pool of blood and no victim lead Anna on a desperate hunt for a man who has disappeared without trace. As Anna becomes obsessed with seemingly irrelevant details, Langton fears that she is losing control of the case.
They still have no body and Anna is under increasing pressure to make an arrest....

Worth a listen.
As ever an enjoyable listen from La Plante and the narrator Samantha Bond does a brilliant job. It may be because this is an abridged version but it seemed very clipped and to the point, with little insight into the feelings of Anna Travis and very little about the rest of her team's investigation into the case.

Keeps your blood pulsing for the truth
Loved this story, kept you on your toes, you so questioned is she or isn’t she guilty? You will be kept waiting until the very end.
Lynda la plante never fails perfection

Abridged versions - Humphf!
Beautifully narrated but having read the book - half the story is missing and as such the story has holes and feels bitty and rushed. Please Audible UK - get the rights back to the unabridged recordings!

Terrible narration
The story is pretty good but the narration is absolutely dreadful - so, so bad. Very rushed with not enough expression. It really detracts from the story.

Poor compared to other books by La Plante.
Should never have given Langton a northern accent. Not very realistic. Very weak plot. Disappointed.
