About this listen
To forget and live, or to live and fight?
THE MARSHAL. Melvin Kaur is a nobleman, a magician, and a high-ranking cog in the Clockwork Brigade working out of Istal. His well-established spot in high society is a grand cover for the smuggling his family oversees. But when a handoff goes wrong, and Melvin is forced to flee through the night with his charges, he finds unexpected help from an endearing man in the unlikeliest of places.
THE TOY MAKER. Ezra Wren is trying to keep his family’s business in the black and the banks at bay, but the numbers in his ledger do not lie. Debt bondage is a very real threat he will soon have to face, and that was before a bloodied nobleman broke into his toy shop in the dead of night. Despite the risk, Ezra can’t turn away those in need, and finds himself saying yes to a nobleman’s plea and losing his heart in the process when he can ill afford to lose anything.

Short and Sweet
It was great to catch up with the Clockwork Brigade. Ezra the Toy maker is trying to keep the Toystore afloat. Melvin is The Marshal and when his charges handover goes wrong, they end up at Ezra's. Gary Fulong was superb.

An Emporium of Hearts
A great prequel to the An Infernal War Saga, this book focuses on Ezra, a toy maker and Melvin, nobleman magician and high-ranking cog in the Clockwork Bridge. It gives you some background and history to how they came to be together in The Princes Poisoned Vow.
Great world building as you have come to expect from Ms Turner.

Left me wanting to know more about this world
Enjoyable, quick listen with an unexpected, but steamy connection between two men on opposite ends of the social spectrum. There was minimal background or world-building in the story, but there was a steam-punk vibe, magic, a bit of danger and suspense, and two men who find a connection in helping others. I don't know if there are other books already related to this world, but this short story left me wanting to know more about this world and its people. I’d love a longer story about these two MCs.
The narration by Gary Furlong was excellent; he did a great job giving each character a distinct voice.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Great Prequel
An Emporium of Hearts is the prequel novella to the Infernal War Saga, an epic sci-fi/steampunk/fantasy series with incredible worldbuilding and characters. This novella can be read as a standalone or before book one of the Infernal Wars Saga. The worldbuilding is kept to a minimum and clearly explained. The story focuses more on the romance between Melvin and Ezra as they navigate a dangerous world where one misstep can ruin not only themselves, but their entire families. For a short novella, this story has it all: romance, action, and suspense. It’s a great introduction to the Infernal War Saga and a great addition to the world.
Gary Furlong narrated the audiobook and does a fantastic job, just like always. I love Gary’s voice so much and he really knows how to embody and bring to life each character. The audiobook production was well done.

Fun short listen
Story: Set in the magical and riveting Infernal War Saga world, the story was a great quick palate cleanser. There is enough of a plot and feels to make it entertaining and show off the author's stroytelling skills, which I love.
Narration: Good performance and no technical issues at all.

Short, but I enjoyed it
This is the first book I read, (well, listen since it was an audiobook), by Hailey Turner. It is a short novella about Melvin and Ezra, and I really enjoyed it. The two men are on the opposite of the social scale. Melvin is a Marshal, a nobleman, while Ezra is a Toy Maker, struggling with a lot of debts. The two men meet in a difficult situation, where unespectedly, Melvin finds Ezra’s help.
The attraction is strong between them, and despite their differences, they eventually manage to reach the happy ending to their love story.
I loved the characters, Melvin’s generosity, as well as Ezra’s courage. The world around them is also well described, and the narration gives an extra touch.

short but good
I listened to the audiobook which was only 90min long, so I imagine reading this would be slightly shorter. It was a good introduction to the setting where the Infernal War saga is set. I liked meeting Melvin and Ezra and learning a bit about the hierarchy and magic and the Clockwork Brigade. The narrator Gary Furlong did a good job with this story and I would happily listen to him for future books. I will be picking up book 1 as soon as I am able.

short, sweet and sexy
A captivating taste of the new world Hailey has created and two men that hold their place in this intricate world. Fast paced, short and full of chemistry, I really enjoyed Melvin and Ezra's connection and I hope we might get cameos of these men within the series to come!

Steampunk MM Series
Steampunk MM series
A great start to a new series by Hailey Turner. Her worldbuilding goes above and beyond; you can imagine yourself amongst the drama living with the Clockwork Brigade or any other group.
What a novella this is, Marshall and the toy maker, plus the debt bonded, such a powerful story in a short but intriguing book. Well worth the read. A great addition to the series so far.
Gary Furlong tells the story well; his ability to do all the voices is incredible. It entirely made the audio experience.
