Summary
When the gods come calling, you don’t get to say no.
Patrick Collins is three years into a career as a special agent for the Supernatural Operations Agency when the gods come calling to collect a soul debt he owes them. An immortal has gone missing in New York City and bodies are showing up in the wake of demon-led ritual killings that Patrick recognizes all too easily from his nightmares.
Unable to walk away, Patrick finds himself once again facing off against mercenary magic users belonging to the Dominion Sect. Standing his ground alone has never been a winning option in Patrick’s experience, but it’s been years since he’s had a partner he could trust.
Looking for allies in all the wrong places, Patrick discovers the Dominion Sect’s next target is the same werewolf the Fates themselves have thrown into his path. Patrick has been inexplicably attracted to the man from their first meeting, but desire has no place in war. That doesn’t stop Patrick from wanting what he shouldn’t have. Jonothon de Vere is gorgeous, dangerous, and nothing but trouble - to the case, to the fight against every hell, and ultimately, to Patrick’s heart and soul.
In the end, all debts must be paid, and Patrick can only do what he does best - cheat death.

Wow! Such a detailed urban fantasy adventure!
Hailey has created a new world; with magic, demons, and danger. I was hooked from the start. So much mystery and intrigue are unlocked as the story progresses, you can’t help but be drawn in. Patrick is a great character with so much depth you just need to know more! As a battle is brewing Patrick must help figure out who is making these demonic killings and why and when he does, disaster strikes.
Patrick’s back story and nature is explained and detailed so well it’s easy to get lost in the world Hailey has created and cause you to forget what came before. This story is a fantastic adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat while being drawn into a world only Hailey has the power over. With twists and turns, I can’t wait to see where Patrick goes next. The ending will leave you wanting more and thankfully book 2 is already out to be devoured.
A detailed and dynamic story, with magic and mystery. A great listen!!

I rather enjoyed the story
I liked it, greek gods, explosions, romance.
The narrator is male sounding American, does a Cockney accent a bit like Johnny Depp might, rather than say, Danny Dyer but I suspect that's preferable to most audiences. Going to invest in the second in this series now.

A great book
A great start to the series, I really enjoyed the story, the characters, the world that was created and can't wait to start book number two. The narrator did an excellent job , the only negative (for me as a Brit) was the pronunciation of Jono. As the character was British it should definitely be John-o not Joe-no, a minor thing but it did annoy me!

Everything I love about Hailey Turner
I admit to struggling a little in the beginning with this one, but that was because its not my usual genre so it took a while for me to fall into place with all of the magic. But once I did Hailey's great story telling captured me. She does such wonderfully intricate books and fantastic characters I can't wait for more from her!
Gary's narration was perfectly gas and he did a wonderful job!

Hailey Turner - wow!
Hailey is a insta-clic author for me so I was always going to be buying this book (in print & audio as I think you gain something extra from the audio - if it's done right)
However that said I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book and what looks to be a storming new series to anyone who hasn't read/listened to something from Hailey before.
As ever the world building is excellent, the world as we know it so intracately woven to now include Were creatures, Vampires, Gods and Magic users as common place is immersive and drags you into Patrick's story. I really felt his sadness, his anger and his pain at the unfairness of the situation he's in. I just wanted to hug him!
The supporting cast of characters are vast but well thought out so it's not hard to remember who is who and Gary Furlong does a fantastic job of creating a range of different voices for this full cast.
I also loved the London accent he chose for Jono, being a Brit I've lost count of the cringeworthy British accents I've heard but I loved Gary's choice and it was a slightly unusual London accent too which I thought worked really well.
I thought I picked up on a couple of stumbles with words but this really didn't detract from my enjoyment of this book. Good job Gary! And thank you Hailey for yet another Diamond!! Xx

Fast and Exciting New Series, Furlong is Wonderful
A Ferry of Bones & Gold is the first book in Hailey Turner’s Soulbound series. Narrated by Gary Furlong, the audio version is a mystical, magical adventure. Gods, vamps, werewolves, mages, and more come together to fight a war as old as time.
A fast moving adventure, A Ferry of Bones & Gold is filled with action, and the story of witchcraft and mythology is intriguing. There’s a great deal of information in this one, granted it’s the start of a series so that’s to be expected. I’m glad I listened to the audio version so I could review some of the more complex aspects of the story.
My all-time favorite narrator, Gary Furlong delivers an amazing performance. There are so many different types of characters in this one I think it would have proved a real challenge to anyone else. Mr. Furlong’s wealth of accents and different voices are perfectly suited to this story, and his rich and sultry voice is spectacular for the love scenes.
Fans of paranormal, urban fantasy stories are going to love this one!

An interesting story ruined by the narration
I quite liked the story, it had some interesting ideas and a good cast of characters. Unfortunately I had to fight to get to the end because the narration was terrible.
The whole thing was read in a tired monotone, stripping the main character of any vulnerability. This meant it took me a lot longer than it should to warm to him at all. In addition, it wasn't until Jono told us he was from London that I realised he wasn't South African, Once I realised, it became clear that the narrator had used Grant Mitchell as his inspiration and was using it as his own audition for Eastenders. This coupled with the authors continued use of 'Love' made him the worst London stereotype.
I looked to see if perhaps a new narrator had picked up the series after the first book but alas no so unfortunately I'm going to have to give the rest of the series a miss.
