About this listen
Private investigator Atticus Priest is employed by a disgruntled ex-husband to dig up dirt on his estranged wife. But when she goes missing after swimming in the River Avon, Atticus uncovers a conspiracy between five lifelong friends that goes back years.
The friends did something when they were younger that they're not proud of. It's something that would land them in a world of trouble if it ever came to light.
Something they've been trying to bury ever since.
But Atticus finds one secret and then the next. The friends have a lot at stake—what will they do to keep him off the scent, and what will they do if he gets too close to the truth?
Because there's one thing about dirty secrets . . . they're never as buried as you think, and once they've been dug up, they can destroy everything.

Absolutely Cracking
Another excellent book in this series by Mark Dawson. Atticus Priest is an interestingly different character and I really like that. Of course Bandit the dog is top notch too. Nice to still have Simon Vance as the narrator for continuity.
Just need the next chapter as soon as possible Mr D.

An excellent storyline, involving Atticus Priest.
Yet another thoroughly enjoyable crime storyline, in a continuation of the Atticus Priest series. Superbly performed by Simon Vance, yet again.

Good storyline
… looking forward to next book. Interesting storyline. A little bit different to the cookie-cutter traditional storyline

Great series getting stronger as it goes on.
Love these books as I know the area well. I also like the way disparate threads take sone time to cross over in the books . Looking forward to the next one.

Cannot forgive the lack of credibility
I enjoyed the previous books enough to buy this one and I really wanted to love it. Unfortunately I found it impossible to overlook how ridiculous some of the plot was so overall it was a let down. Would a police constable really attend a report of gunshot on her own? Would the police really allow a civilian to get involved so overtly in a crime scene? And why would 2 men camp out in the fields to work when they were so close to the farmstead? I found myself asking these and many more questions and just ended up feeling rather annoyed.
