About this listen
The first volume in a thrilling new historical adventure series by Simon Turney, critically acclaimed author of Legion XXII and Sons of Rome.
58 AD, Rome. Agricola, teenage son of an impoverished yet distinguished noble family, has staked all his resources and reputation on a military career. His reward? A posting as tribune in the far-off northern province of Britannia.
Serving under renowned general Suetonius Paulinus, Agricola soon learns the brutality of life on the very edges of the empire, for the Celtic tribes of Britannia are far from vanquished.
To take control of the province, the Romans must defeat the ancient might of the druids—and the fury of the Iceni, warriors in their thousands led by a redoubtable queen named Boudicca...

Agricola is quite and interesting character and I love Luki!
I was quite interested by the character of Agricola as I have been following the history of Britain’s conquest. The narrator was not that great and some of his voices were on the verge of ridicule.

Engaging story
I enjoyed the story, but not so much the narrator. Hus normal speaking voice was fine. but for me the voices were too cartoonish and jarring

Great new characters
The characters, and narration, are slightly better than his last series, which was excellent anyway?

Simon Gurney always gives a good story and this was no exception. I look forward to the next installment.
Another fine start to what I expect will be a great series, I have read Tacitus biography of Agricola and I like the Simon Turney's imagings of his back story.
However, I found the narrator a bit distracting. His over exaggerated vocals for some characters was annoying and not very successful. He also had a rather idiosyncratic way of pronouncing some of the Latin. When not trying too hard he was quite good.

New slant on an oft told story from History
Love Simon Turney’s slant on history tales. Another great yarn. Interesting slant with the hero’s thought processes in war. Love your books Simon. Thank you,
