absolutely fascinating
This book has changed so much about how I see trees and forests and ecosystems. it's on my Listen Again list. I would recommend it highly. Beautifully written and beautifully narrated. The most surprising moment was about conifer forests and how they make us feel.

highly informative
Although written for general consumption, making it easy to listen to, there was still a lot to learn, and after studying forestry most of this book was still new to me. I will listen again!

Short chapters, engaging content, relaxed narrator
Some of the ideas are hard to absorb as they run contrary to everything you have ever learned about the nature of forests and trees as discrete items but the referencing and pedigree of the author is impressive.
I would have enjoyed less repetition about the same basic concepts and the book would benefit hugely from an expanded focus on natural disasters and forest management but I can highly recommend it.
The content is engaging and accessible. It is a fine purchase and a worthy addition to your bookshelf.

Good book with one annoying factor
I really enjoyed the book, but there was one thing that was really getting to me throughout.
All measurements are in imperial.
I can only assume that all measurements have been changed to feet and inches for an American audience. Which is annoying considering the book is based in Germany.
