Summary

Becky Tibbs is getting engaged to Patrick.

That is...if she can get Marty Smith's frighteningly skilled and vengeful ghost to cross over.
And, if she can pass his parents' critical inspection.

Life is not simple for a medium, especially in Asheville, North Carolina!

This is the seventh book in the Becky Tibbs cozy mystery series. The author suggests that you start listening to the series with Book One, A Medium's Birthday Surprise and that you continue to listen to the books in order.

In spite of all the obstacles she has to face, Becky is elated that she will soon marry Patrick. After solving several ghost cases and catching her breath, the last hurdle she has to jump is meeting his parents.

Will Patrick's wealthy, eccentric parents give the happy couple their blessing, or will they throw a monkey wrench into the works and spoil their joy?

An engaging book

I enjoyed this book. This is book seven and the start of the book continues on from the previous book A Medium's 4th of July, so although not necessary as the author gives you a quick round up of what happened at the start, I think in does help if you start with that book first. That problem is fairly quickly resolved and then it is back to business for Becky as she helps a wide range of ghosts and humans with problems, while living her life. There is a nice mix for the help needed with the cases, showing the author has a good understanding of human nature. I like the conclusion to the Marty problem (her sister's ex boyfriend) but do wonder is it really over? The rest of the main characters are fun, I especially liked how the best friend despite not being able to see ghosts still told him off. Looking forward to the wedding.
After being spooked by Marty's ghost at the 4th July fireworks display, Becky is reluctant to end her camping trip and return home, especially after attending his funeral because she know there is trouble ahead. She is right and she must find a way to convince Marty to stop terrorising everybody and cross over, before it's to late. At the same time things between Patrick and herself are getting serious and it's time to meet his parents. Becky is happy with who she is and what she does but maybe handling ghost might be easier than sitting down for a meal with them.
I like the narrator and with this book she really helped to tug on the heart strings.
