Summary

When Maud Marsh flings herself into George Bevan's cab in Piccadilly, he starts believing in damsels in distress. George traces his mysterious traveling companion to Belpher Castle, home of Lord Marshmoreton, where things become severely muddled. Maud's aunt, Lady Caroline Byng, wants Maud to marry Reggie, her stepson. Maud, meanwhile, is known to be in love with an unknown American she met in Wales. So when George turns up speaking American, a nasty case of mistaken identity breaks out. In fact, the scene is set for the perfect Wodehouse comedy of errors.

A very funny and cozy book

This was my first meeting with the Wodehouse world, and I loved it! The story itself with all its twists and turns was humorous and gripping, and - as so many others here have pointed out - Jonathan Cecil's narration itself is a work of art - just so funny. I like especially how he becomes the too-smart-for-his-age Albert and the self-important and scheming butler Keggs. This audiobook was included for free in my membership and I am really thankful for that. I have now bought my next title by Wodehouse and with Cecil and am ready to be entertained. :)

Charming & funny

Wodehouse writes so well about characters that are nonsense and yet so entertaining that I listen to book after book.

a perfect example of a Wodehouse romance!

If you know what you're getting into - you'll love it. Silliness, romance and crossed wires within conversations.

Very funny story, with laugh-out-loud moments, very well read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone, especially if you want to escape from the realities of life for a while.

P G Wodehouse, always good for a laugh!

A stand alone tale, no Jeeves & Wooster but still fun.
A bit too many golf references for a non-devotee of the game but otherwise a 'spiffing good yarn'; and narrator Jonathan Cecil, played the characters, up & below stairs with aplomb, as if he was born to read P G Wodehouse.

Wodehouse never fails - story is a delightful farce and narrator's range of voices was grwst
