The Rise of the Scythe

Tag dreams of forging his own path as he works on his father's modest farm. But, the dream becomes a nightmare when a troop of black-armored men arrive and begin shedding blood. He is forced to go on the run to preserve his life and all he has with him is his father's mowing scythe. He is alone and wanders the woods, but he won't remain by himself for long. Soon, he meets with and joins a growing force of resistance who stand against the invaders.

War tears the world apart. Tag and the band of resistance fighters travel to the city of Trace Vale, which is threatened by Thrall’s occupation under a ruthless Commander. But there is another trouble: an unseen assailant prowls the streets at night killing Thrall soldiers, putting them on high alert. Captain Uval of Thrall, disobeying a direct order, also heads to Trace Vale, unaware that Tag and his companions have arrived there. He is obsessed with finding the boy, and exacting revenge.

The Very Soul of the War is at Stake. Amid an ever-escalating war, a wedge has been driven between Tag and Randall. These one-time friends find themselves in a hostile status verging on becoming enemies. All but giving up on his friend, Tag takes a young war orphan under his wing. The tender and broken boy struggles to adapt to life in the war… and becomes a further stone in the wall between Tag and his former friend. Unknown to them all, a dark and deadly magical creature called a Black Whisper has been sent to hunt Tag and bring him to Uval and Kuran.
