When Steve Barton investigates a plane crash near a remote California community, he has no idea that he will come upon traces of one of his biggest regrets: Alice Chang. Alice Chang was the woman who got away. Or, more accurately, disappeared. Steve still often wonders what happened to his intriguing coworker. When he sees signs that Alice may have been inside a strange building an airplane plowed into, he launches an investigation that will lead to an underworld of electronic hackers, evil men, and murderers.
