Story
Charles and Grace wanted a quiet staycation honeymoon, but when their train terminates early due to a storm up ahead, they wonder if they made the wrong decision. Forced to take shelter in the nearest seaside town, Saltwater, they discover that there is only one guesthouse left. Unlike the rest of Saltwater, the Anchorage is entirely deserted. That night, with the storm howling relentlessly, Grace is woken by a child crying. She is haunted by the sound, until Charles convinces her it was only her imagination. But the next day, she finds a warning scrawled in the guest book.

Story
A psychiatric emergency team member on a night shift in LA - not a job I'd wish on anyone but my worst enemy - but somehow it works for me. I try not to think too much about what that says about me, and to do the job with heart and brains. This book is made up of episodes...various night shifts over the years. They tell a story of the true meaning of "sanity" in the universe, and the true nature of life in the wasteland they call "the center of the world". The comical mingles with the tragic.

Story
What if you moved into your dream house and discovered that an obsessive, irrational, hating machine was living right next door? What if you had a background in psychology and thought you could handle it? A seasoned clinician and psychology instructor tells the story of his 10 year struggle to deal with this neighbor from hell, who walked out of a textbook on borderline pathology, and into the lives of he and his wife. He uses this lesson to distill some helpful advice for dealing with this particular brand of nightmare.
