Origene Adamanzio, (Alessandria d'Egitto, 185 – Tiro, 254), è stato un teologo e filosofo greco antico.È considerato uno tra i principali scrittori e teologi cristiani dei primi tre secoli. Di famiglia greca, fu direttore della «scuola catechetica» di Alessandria d'Egitto, il trapasso dalla filosofia pagana al cristianesimo e fu l'ideatore del primo grande sistema di filosofia cristiana.Sulla preghiera è un opuscolum giuntoci per intero nella sua forma originale, che fu inviato da Origene al suo amico Ambrogio, che in seguito sarebbe stato imprigionato a causa della Fede.
