Story
Richard Carver had only been a Catholic priest for a short time when he met and fell in love with the beautiful Elisabeth Downs. So began a titanic tug-of-war between Richard's love of his God and his love for Elisabeth. Richard was to rise rapidly within the ranks of the church before and during the upcoming years of World War II. The brilliant priest from America would find himself disguised with many names, attired in different clothes—including a Nazi uniform—before his secretive work for the church and its allies was finished at the end of the war.

His captain, Qole, is the youngest-ever person to command her own ship, but she brooks no argument from her crew of orphans, fugitives, and con men. Nev can't resist her, even if her ship is an antique. As for Nev, he's a prince, in hiding on the ship. He believes Qole holds the key to changing galactic civilization, and when her cooperation proves difficult to obtain, Nev resolves to get her to his home planet by any means necessary.

Story
Fresh out of middle school, 12-year-old Orabella thought the worst of her worries would be choosing between going to high school and being homeschooled - between sticking with her friends or being free from the bullying she receives because of her learning disability. But she soon discovers that the world she knew, school included, isn't what it seems. An eerie encounter with a mysterious raven during the Summer Solstice Festival forces her to move in with her grandparents, where strange occurrences happen more and more often.

Story
There is a river that flows through the misty landscape of imagination, seeping up through the rocky earth high in the Appalachian Mountains. It winds southward through the foothills and the piedmont: It tumbles past the fall line, widens and deepens, and then meanders across the coastal plain until it finally reaches the gulf of Mexico. And all along its length the great river inspires stories to tease listeners into wonder, or send a shiver down their spines.

Story
The shrimping trawler Crippled Pelican mysteriously burns and sinks off the northeast coast of Florida with women and children aboard. The only survivor was the captain of the vessel whose wife and children were also aboard. The United States government claimed the captain set fire to the vessel and was hopelessly insane at the time of his rescue. The captain was committed to an insane asylum in Florida and never heard from again, until 10 years later, following a tip to a newspaper reporter suggesting the captain wasn't insane as the government had claimed.
