All was well for Martin Reed, a 20-year-old PhD biologist, until one day, he came across a gene sequence that seemed unusual, out of place. Stan and Jacqui Winston had a good life. Two good jobs, two healthy kids, and a three-bedroom bungalow. Stan, however, had a gambling problem, and while he told Jacqui he was through with it, he managed to sneak out from time to time. While on vacation in Florida, a random quarter would change their lives. Stan hit the jackpot, but the resort owner couldn’t pay.
