Being Yourself Exercise (B.Y.E) is a method of change, and when practiced in sessions with your therapist, the outcomes are that of self-discovery and (potentiality) a new beginning. It can be used as self-help and a method of reflective practice in all aspects of one's life. Being Yourself is about a sense of wholeness, and not a fragmented randomness or an emotional turmoil around choices. It is a powerful exercise and signals (if only through its acronym) closure to a conflict between values and standards. V.A.L.I.D.A.T.E. is about both empowerment and recognition.
