H. G. Wells, best known for his science fiction novels, wrote many short stories which had the same engaging qualities as his major works. Strange, disturbing, but full of wit and humour, here are nine of them: "The Moth", "In the Avu Observatory", "The Stolen Bacillus", "The Flowering of the Strange Orchid", and five more.

Besides dealing with his teenage assistant, Moth (being enticed by her mafia family to join the business), Quirk's nemesis Beatrix Potter has reappeared. The nonbinary assassin reveals an unprecedented power grab by Joshua Simister. The Old Man, aka TOM, aka Quirk's ex-father-in-law plots to snatch control of all interstellar travel from the UN. The struggle for power puts the lives of Quirk's ex-wife (committed to an asylum), his son (an electronic being), and Moth's family under threat. Can the dysfunctional duo prevent this calamity?

Quirk and Moth have avoided killing each other long enough to solve another case. They decide on a local job next, and take up the search for a missing scientist. How could Quirk know this new mystery put them on a headlong collision course with his troubled past, a plethora of personal issues, and a hoard of genetic hybrid creatures with an appetite for anything that moves? When their client dies in mysterious circumstances, law enforcement pursues the dysfunctional duo all the way to a research lab in frozen Yellowknife.

This short steampunky adventure with a flavour of thirties movie serials was inspired by a Twitter conversation the author had with singer Thea Gilmore in early 2013, and then by her song "Start As We Mean To Go On". As the story progressed, other Thea songs lent their titles easily to the remaining three episodes, and more song titles found their way into the text. The name "Moth Girl' came out of an anagram of Thea's name in fact Ratporchrico's opening phrase in this story is that very anagram.

A 14-episode series of science-fiction short stories, tinged with horror and, I’m not going to lie, sentimentality. Moth travels everywhere and everywhen in search of (often deadly) Discrepancies, and tries to make sense of the Briefs she gets from Collection. She also pines a bit for her colleague Cicada. Episodes are standalone but linked, and details add up. NOTE THAT THE MOTH COLLECTION IS NOW COMPLETE.
