Se trata de una colección de tres relatos ambientados en entornos muy distintos. El primero de ellos, “Alboroto en la orden,” se desarrolla en Londres y se inspira en un episodio de la vida del poeta irlandés William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), cuando protagonizó un rudo encontronazo con el ocultista Aleister Crowley (1875-1947). El segundo, “Nacarado atardecer”, trata de una historia familiar que tiene lugar en los alrededores de Niza, la vieja oposición entre los enemigos hermanos.
