In 1962 verscheen bij Meulenhoff Kort Amerikaans, de inmiddels klassiek geworden debuutroman van Jan Wolkers over een jongen die in de Tweede Wereldoorlog onderduikt om aan de Arbeitseinsatz te ontkomen. Zonder dat de dreiging van de oorlog ook maar even verdwijnt, vecht de jongen in zijn schuilplaats tegen zijn angsten en zijn erotische obsessies. In 1979 herschreef Jan Wolkers het boek naar aanleiding van de verfilming die datzelfde jaar uitkwam. In 2006 werd het boek door Dick Matena in omgewerkt tot strip in drie delen.

After their successful expedition to Heard Island, the team arrived in Fremantle and took a few days to unwind. The Northern Corridor Radio Group (NCRG) hosted a BBQ at the Neil Penfold State Amateur Radio Centre where all 14 members of the team were interviewed on Saturday 23 April. Penguins, Seals, Glaciers and Gales made for a once in a lifetime adventure.

Onno ist Fischer. Er lebt mit seiner Frau Olga auf einer Hallig und verbringt seine Zeit am liebsten ganz allein auf See. Doch plötzlich wird er seekrank und kann nicht mehr mit seinem Boot hinausfahren. Da beschließt Olga kurzerhand den Job ihres Mannes zu übernehmen, und Onno bleibt zurück an Land. Immerhin hat er dort seine Ruhe - bis die Flut einen kleinen Otter anspült, der einfach nicht mehr von seiner Seite weichen möchte.

Sind drei Freunde einer zu viel? Ontje ist aufgeregt: Vor der Hallig ist ein riesiger Wal gestrandet! Endlich mal Besuch, freut sich der kleine Otter, und kümmert sich mit viel Einsatz um den unfreiwilligen Gast. Doch die Flut, mit der der Wal wieder davonschwimmen soll, steigt einfach nicht hoch genug. Und langsam reicht es Ontje: Warum nimmt sich Onno so viel Zeit für den Wal und gar nicht mehr für ihn? Sonst bleibt der alte Fischer doch am liebsten für sich. Hat er den Wal am Ende lieber als Ontje?

Oje, der kleine Fischotter Ontje hat sich erkältet - ausgerechnet an dem Tag, als Onno seine Draisine reparieren möchte und eigentlich gar keine Zeit für etwas anderes hat... Doch weil Onno den kleinen Ontje gern hat, pflegt er ihn gesund. Denn Freunde helfen einander. Auch wenn Onno sich ansteckt, ist es doch am allerschönsten zusammen zu sein, oder?

"Hurra! Bald ist Weihnachten mit Tannenbaum, Geschenken und all unseren Freunden!" Otter Ontje kann es kaum erwarten! Aber dem alten Fischer Onno wird der Trubel zu viel. Robben, Krabben und Möwen unterm Weihnachtsbaum? So ein Quatsch! Und dann zieht auch noch ein dicker Schneesturm übers Meer und Onnos Frau Olga bleibt mit allen Weihnachtsbesorgungen im Watt stecken. Muss Ontjes heiß ersehntes Weihnachtsfest nun ausfallen? Eine stimmungsvolle Geschichte über das, was Weihnachten wirklich ausmacht: gemeinsam feiern und sich freuen!
