Many of the articles in The Book of Mothman were written years before Keel’s Mothman Prophecies, while others were written years afterwards, making it a very unique and valuable source. With the addition of several 1990s lectures and an interview from 2003 - Keel’s last on Mothman - researchers and enthusiasts gain a better sense of just what was going on in West Virginia and the Ohio Valley in the 1960s and ‘70s.

Between November 1966 and December 1967, the small Appalachian town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was stalked and harassed by a terrifying entity dubbed the Mothman. Over a half a century has passed since the tragedy in Point Pleasant when Billy Slater and his mom move to the small town, blissfully unaware of the horrific things that have cast a dark cloud over the town to this very day. But then, in one sudden gust of unimaginable horror, the close-knit community of Point Pleasant is thrust back into the same madness, chaos, and nerve-shredding fear they suffered years earlier.

He’s a cryptid and faerie prince, but she’s just Heather.

When 23-year-old Heather started dating Mothman, she knew she was in for some surprises. Getting transported to the faerie realm he was banished from? Yeah, that was not what she expected. Turns out those moth wings belonged to a faerie prince with a dark past.

This book was originally printed in small quantities and hence became very rare, fetching enormous prices. Now, for the first time, it is being made widely available to the general public. Inside, one finds many intriguing details about Mothman that previously escaped attention. This 2012 edition features new introductions by noted paranormal researchers Allen Greenfield, James Moseley, and Andy Colvin.

A creature, described as a brown, manlike figure ascended from a nearby grove of trees and dive-bombed the bewildered group, flying directly over their heads. They had a very good view of the creature. It was 'less than a hoot and a holler away' to borrow from the local vernacular. It stayed within view for a full minute, before disappearing just as suddenly as it had appeared. This was the first sighting of the creature that the press would soon dub 'Mothman'.

Spurred by the realization that the 9/11 attacks were accurately predicted - in 1967 - by a childhood friend who was seeing Mothman, Seattle artist Andy Colvin began filming a reality series, "The Mothman’s Photographer," documenting his experiences growing up in Mound, West Virginia. Inside the Prophecies of Mothman chronicles the thoughts and feelings of several Mothman experiencers in the years immediately following the attacks (2002-2007).

Few have seen the West Virginia creature known as Mothman, but everyone agrees nothing good happens when he’s around—there always seems to be an accident or some other mishap. Is he really an unlucky charm? Even he’s unsure. This story of a real-life Indiana Jones of the 1950s named John Keel contains everything but a trip to Venus in a flying saucer - a subject our newsman/explorer would become famous for a decade later. In Egypt, the fearless Keel was cursed by a mummy and befriended members of a strange snake-charming cult. In Iraq, he played Russian roulette with a notorious desert bandit and lived among the Yezidi devil-worshippers. Later, in India, he was buried alive and discovered the secret of the Indian rope trick, which he then performed for incredulous reporters in New Delhi.

During 1966 and 1967, when he was subject to nonstop surveillance and harassment from both human and supernatural spooks, intrepid Fortean investigator John A. Keel made extensive field notes concerning the phenomena he was confronting in West Virginia and New York: UFOs, Men in Black, creature entities, ultraterrestrials, and odd coincidences and synchronicities. The result was a series of concise, thematically related reports, many of which were incorporated into magazine articles for Saga, Fate, and Flying Saucer Review.
